All this waxing lyrical about Arsenal from pundits and supporters. I was shocked to see they were only one nil up. I thought they were six or seven up.

It is well played from Phil Foden who pops it back to Nico O'Reilly. We mentioned Erling Haaland's hang time - it is a superb header, the ball isn't fired it is just stood up. It is a classic centre forwards header. He made that look easy and he has been colossal.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-1 Paris St-Germain

Barcelona sparked back into life as the half came to an end but it is all square at the break.

Ferran Torres put the home side in front but Senny Mayulu levelled it up seven minutes before the break.

Everything about that goal was perfect by Haaland. The timing of his run, the height of his leap and then the finish. He directs his header into the corner, and with so much power too.

You can hear more from Onuoha on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 BST 1 October 2025

That's that for the opening 45 minutes.

Erling Haaland at the double for Manchester City.

    Monaco 1-2 Man City

Three Champions League goals this campaign for Erling Haaland as his overall tally moves to 52 goals in 50 games for Manchester City in Europe.

Monaco win a corner and attempt to immediately respond again but Gianluigi Donnarumma ensures it comes to nothing.

Into two minutes of added time as Marcus Rashford goes racing away down the left, beating Illia Zabarnyi and putting a low ball into the box.

Willian Pacho is there to put it behind for a corner and Rashford's delivery is a poor one. Straight into the side netting.

You can really see how Arsenal have been adapting for Gyokeres and their new style of play this season.

They are playing lots more balls in behind the opposition defence.

Gyokeres ran onto one there and cut in onto his right foot but he curled over.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:45 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-1 Paris St-Germain

We all know that Barcelona like to play a super-high line but it really is quite remarkable to see it in action.

Risky as it is, it works OK this time and Barcelona win the ball back after a PSG switch.

Lamine Yamal tries to break free but is barged over by Nuno Mendes. Yellow card for the left-back.

    Erling Haaland (44 mins)

Erling Haaland is at it again.

Nico O'Reilly floats the ball into the middle of the area and the Norwegian leaps way above anyone else to direct a powerful header into the back of the net.

What a header and City regain the lead right before half time.

    Monaco 1-1 Man City

John Stones finds Bernardo Silva with a little poked through ball and it's a decent ball whipped across the box to find Tijjani Reijnders.

The midfielder goes for the bottom corner but it's parried away by the keeper into the path of Erling Haaland who can only find the side netting from a tight angle.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:44 BST 1 October 2025

    Barcelona 1-1 Paris St-Germain

    So good until the finish!

Brilliant footwork from Bradley Barcola, jinking one way then the other to get past the defender.

But he puts the left-footed shot over the bar with just Wojciech Szczesny to beat.

Come on fellow gooners let us not get carried away with the hype. If we are still where we are in March and still in the Champions League then we can start believing. Nobody wins anything in October.

It feels weird to say given just how good some of the football has been from Arsenal here, but they have lived a little dangerous at times. It feels like they need more than the one goal.

    Napoli 1-0 Sporting

Napoli move ahead as former Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne puts it on a plate for on-loan Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.

    Great finish.

    Senny Mayulu (38 mins)

Now Paris St-Germain have got it right in the final third!

It's Nuno Mendes again, driving forward to create the goal. Effortlessly ghosting past a couple of Barcelona players before moving in field and threading a perfectly-weighted pass to Senny Mayulu.

The young forward lets it come across his body after Pau Cubarsi dives in the try and intercept, then hits an unerring finish, left-footed into the bottom corner.

Lots of nice play from both sides between the two boxes at the moment.

But neither side have been able to get it quite right once they get into the final third in the past few minutes.
