Wrexham captain James McClean is full of confidence and believes their nine-game unbeaten run in the league shows they can compete with any side.

The Red Dragons earned a 1-1 draw at promotion-chasing Preston at the weekend and have only lost one of their past 14 matches (W5 D8).

"If you look at our team, you know the quality we have here, we're not overawed going to any ground," McClean told BBC Wales.

"We look forward to the challenge and we believe we're more than capable of beating anybody in this division as each game comes.

"This division, anyone can beat anyone, it's ruthless. To go nine unbeaten is no easy feat and it shows you the character and the quality we have in this team."

  3. 'No surprise Stoke are doing well under Robins'published at 19:41 GMT 10 December 2025

    Ipswich v Stoke (19:45 GMT)

Stoke might have lost four of their past five, including an uncharacteristically heavy 4-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Saturday.

But Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is not taking them lightly and has shown his admiration for Potters boss Mark Robins.

"I think they've been playing really well, I've been impressed, one of the best footballing sides in the division for sure," McKenna told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"I think they'd probably say themselves, Saturday was a one-off in terms of a game really getting away from them. Other than that, they've been tight in every game.

"We're expecting a really good team, a really good footballing test. It should make for a good game, so we're looking forward to it."

McKenna said Robins is doing a "really good job" at Stoke and added: "They have had quite a few years in the division where they've not quite been able to get it going. This has been maybe the best they've done for quite a while and it's no surprise he's had a big input."

  4. Rams waiting for Big Ben to chime inpublished at 19:38 GMT 10 December 2025

    Derby v Millwall (19:45 GMT)

    Derby County

Derby head coach John Eustace says it is "always going to be difficult" after losing a player of Carlton Morris' quality to injury.

Morris has netted 10 league goals this season and had scored in four consecutive games before picking up an ankle injury in the first half of the 3-2 defeat by Watford, which will keep him out until February.

The Rams have lost three of their four matches since Morris limped off, including the one against the Hornets.

"You've taken a big character out of the group, a leader," Eustace told BBC Radio Derby before tonight's meeting with high-flying Millwall.

"It's our job now to adapt. Overall, I don't think we've been too bad. But you take big characters out of any team, it's always going to be difficult to bounce back."

One player the Rams hope can soften the blow is forward Ben Brereton Diaz, who has netted just once since joining on loan from Southampton in the summer.

"I think Ben's work-rate up to now has been excellent," said Eustace. "He's been really unlucky not to score a couple more.

"We've got to keep giving him the belief that he's going to be a match-winner for us. The recruitment to get him in was excellent with his reputation. We're very fortunate he's here.

"He hasn't scored as many goals as I'm sure he'd like but his work-rate has been superb and I'm confident the goals will come."

  5. We need to keep building - Cifuentespublished at 19:36 GMT 10 December 2025

Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes has emphasised the importance of putting together a good run of results after the impressive 3-1 win at Derby.

The Foxes bounced back from two consecutive defeats with victory at Pride Park on Saturday to ease the pressure on Cifuentes.

A congested Championship table means Leicester are currently 14th but only four points off the play-off places.

"I think it's important in this league to build some kind of momentum," Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester ahead of the trip to Ashton Gate.

"We know it's going to be a difficult game again because it's another game away against a team that has started the season really well.

"Again in a style that is much about a lot of pressing, a lot of counter-pressing. They are very clear on their identity.

"We know where we are, we know how much we want to improve but again, we need to keep building on what we saw [against Derby]."

  6. Robins boss wants VAR in Championshippublished at 19:33 GMT 10 December 2025

Bristol City v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber believes the Championship should have VAR brought in to create "more fairness".

The Robins saw a late equaliser disallowed for offside in their 1-0 defeat by Millwall on Saturday, resulting in a huge post-match melee involving staff and players from both sides.

Video assistant referees were brought into the Premier League at the start of the 2019-20 season, but in the Championship the technology has only been used in play-off finals since 2022.

"I am not a fan of VAR but this shows us the many signs, evaluations that with VAR the decisions are better and more fair," Struber told BBC Radio Bristol.

"We should do everything for more fairness and the last game showed us this on a really good picture."

  7. No Gelhardt for Hull; Wrexham unchangedpublished at 19:31 GMT 10 December 2025

The biggest news for Hull City is that they are without 10-goal top goalscorer Joe Gelhardt.

He misses out with a calf injury picked up in the 4-1 defeat by Middlesbrough on Friday which BBC Radio Humberside are reporting will keep the Championship's second highest scorer out until January.

It's one of four changes for the Tigers with Charlie Hughes, Darko Gyabi, Mohamed Belloumi, and Joel Ndala all coming into the side.

John Egan and Amir Hadziahmetovic drop to the bench, while Enis Destan is not in the squad.

Wrexham are unchanged from their 1-1 draw at Preston last time out.

At a quick glance, Hull City and Wrexham might appear to be sitting in mid-table.

But the Championship is so congested that these two are both very much still in the play-off conversation.

The Tigers have stumbled in recent weeks with just two wins from their past six games (L4) and they were soundly beaten 4-1 at home by Middlesbrough last time out. However, a win could see them climb to sixth, depending on results elsewhere.

The Red Dragons are just a point behind Hull and having adapted well to life in the second tier after three back-to-back promotions, they will feel they may well be able to mount a serious challenge to go up again.

Phil Parkinson's side are on an impressive nine-game unbeaten run (W4 D5) and will hope to impress in their first league meeting with Hull since February 2005.

  9. Two changes for Rams; three for Lionspublished at 19:26 GMT 10 December 2025

John Eustace has made two changes to the Derby side which went down 3-1 at home in the East Midlands derby on Saturday.

Andi Weimann and Liam Thompson are handed starts after impressing off the bench against Leicester with Ebou Adams and Lars-Jorgen Salvesen dropping to the bench.

Alex Neil has made three changes to the Lions XI which won 1-0 at Bristol City last time out.

Casper de Norre misses out after limping off at Ashton Gate and there’s also no Zak Sturge while Aidomo Emakhu drops to the bench.

Thierno Ballo, Camiel Neghli and Alfie Doughty come in after coming off the bench on Saturday.

  10. Lions aiming for six of best at Pride Parkpublished at 19:24 GMT 10 December 2025

    Derby v Millwall (19:45 GMT)

Millwall will aim to cling to the coat-tails of the Championship's top-two as they head to Derby seeking a fourth straight win.

While only the bottom seven have scored fewer than the Lions' 23 goals in their opening 19 games, they have turned those into an impressive 34 points and could go within two points of second-placed Middlesbrough with another victory.

Though Derby remain five points behind the play-off places they have slipped to 15th after three defeats in their past four games and will be missing leading scorer Carlton Morris until February.

John Eustace's men have a poor recent record against Millwall, taking just nine points from the past 11 meetings and losing the past five straight at Pride Park - the Lions have never before won six in a row away at an opponent.

The Rams do, however, shine brightest under the lights, going unbeaten in their past eight midweek matches and claiming 18 points from them.

  11. One change for Ipswich; four for Stokepublished at 19:22 GMT 10 December 2025

    Ipswich v Stoke (19:45 GMT)

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who has made a habit of tinkering this season, makes just the one change on this occasion from the excellent 3-0 win over Coventry.

Ivan Azon starts up front in place of George Hirst, who isn't in the squad due to suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season on Saturday.

Mark Robins makes four changes for Stoke following their 4-0 loss at Sheffield United.

Maksym Talovierov, Aaron Cresswell, Steven Nzonzi and Lamine Cisse come into the side, with Eric Bocat, Tomas Rigo, Tatsuki Seko and Million Mahoef all dropping to the bench.

Defender Ashley Phillips misses this game with suspension, having also picked up five yellows.

  12. Can Tractor Boys or Potters get on a roll?published at 19:20 GMT 10 December 2025

    Ipswich v Stoke (19:45 GMT)

Ipswich have not managed to put together more than two consecutive wins all season and some sections of the support have raised concerns.

But the Tractor Boys have only lost one of their previous nine games in the Championship (W5 D3) and are still relatively well poised to make a push for promotion and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The 3-0 win over leaders Coventry at the weekend was a real statement and now the aim has to be to back it up with another strong performance with the chance to go third tonight if Millwall lose at Derby.

As for Stoke, a run of four defeats in their past five games and last night’s results mean they start a game outside the top six for the first time since the opening day of the season.

But victory for the Potters would propel them back up to fourth and within five points of the automatic promotion places.

This is very much two sides who are hopeful of at least a play-off spot going head-to-head.

  13. Two changes for Robins; one for Foxespublished at 19:18 GMT 10 December 2025

Bristol City v Leicester (19:45 GMT)

Gerhard Struber has made two changes to the Robins team which went down 1-0 at home to Millwall on Saturday.

Neto Borges and skipper Jason Knight drop to the bench with Ross McCrorie and Cam Pring handed a start, Pring for the first time this season.

Marti Cifuentes makes just one alteration from the Foxes XI which won at Derby.

Hamza Choudhury is recalled at right-back, and takes the captain’s armband, with Ricardo Pereira dropping to the bench, where there is no place for Harry Winks for the second straight game.

Big game at Ashton Gate, this, with Leicester looking for back-to-back wins to climb towards the play-off places and Bristol City aiming to get back to winning ways to return to the top six.

After a 3-1 win in the East Midlands derby at Derby on Saturday the Foxes lie 14th, but could overhaul the now ninth-placed Robins with a win, so tightly-packed is the middle of the Championship table.

Inconsistent Bristol City went down 1-0 at home to Millwall on Saturday for a second defeat in three games and have now lost two of their past three at Ashton Gate without scoring.

They do have good form against the Foxes, however, winning three of the past four encounters at home, while manager Marti Cifuentes is unbeaten in four career games against the Robins.

The question is who will shine brightest under the lights tonight? The Robins have lost their past two midweek games while Leicester haven't won in four this season, taking only two points.

It's all systems go towards the top end of the table tonight.

Millwall will look to reduce the deficit to the automatic promotion spots back to two points at Derby, who themselves could go within two points of the play-off places with victory.

Ipswich could move within five points of Middlesbrough in second and Stoke could climb to fourth.

Bristol City need a win to muscle back into the top six, while Hull, Wrexham and Leicester are all looking to gain ground on their fellow play-off challengers.

  16. Millers to continue unbeaten run?published at 19:11 GMT 10 December 2025

    Rotherham v Blackpool (19:45 GMT)

Rotherham host Blackpool in tonight's sole League One game.

The Millers go into this sitting in 14th and are unbeaten in their past nine league games, drawing their past three in a row.

In their last outing, Matt Hamshaw's much-changed side hammered Salford 7-2 in the EFL Trophy.

They'll be looking to keep up their good record against Blackpool having not lost to them in their past 14 league meetings.

March 1997 - that was the last time Blackpool beat Rotherham in a league game and they'll take anything to end that hoodoo this evening as they switch their attention back to league matters.

Ian Evatt's side beat National League side Carlisle 4-1 in the FA Cup second round on Sunday but need to start getting wins in the league having picked up none in their past three games.

The Seasiders are currently second from bottom in League One and four points from safety.

  17. In League Two tonightpublished at 19:09 GMT 10 December 2025

    Crewe v Newport & Oldham v Walsall (19:45 GMT)

There's a couple of games in League Two tonight too and we'll bring updates of them as the evening progresses.

Leaders Walsall return to league action after easing past National League side Gateshead in the FA Cup second round on Sunday.

Mat Sadler's side have the opportunity the stretch their lead at the summit with Notts County in second and Swindon in third a point behind them when they make the trip to Oldham.

Oldham's fortunes in the FA Cup did not go as well as Walsall's as they were dumped out by MK Dons 3-1. In their last league outing they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Accrington which ended a four-match unbeaten run.

Interestingly, these two sides are the only two yet to drop a single point from a winning position in League Two this season.

In the other game in League Two, bottom-of-the-table Newport travel to Crewe.

Christian Fuchs' Newport are winless in their past four league games and are five points from safety.

Crewe, who sit 13th, can push towards the play-off places with a win as they are just three points adrift of the top seven.

They have been finding the net aplenty at home having scored three in each of their past three home league games.

  18. Over to you Walsallpublished at 19:07 GMT 10 December 2025

League Two table next to clapping Mat Sadler, boss of WalsallImage source, Opta/Shutterstock

Last night we saw Swindon squander their chance to go top after falling to a 1-0 home defeat by Cheltenham, while Notts County edged out MK Dons 3-2 at Meadow Lane to go second.

How will Walsall respond this evening? A win for the Saddlers against Oldham will see them extend their lead to four points.

In a congested top half of the table Crewe will have an eye on the play-off positions as a win against bottom club Newport would propel them right in the mix.

The Exiles, on the other hand, last won a league game back in October. They picked up a point last time out in the league against Barrow but a win tonight would see them swap places with Harrogate and reduce the gap to safety to two points.

Middlesbrough reduced Coventry's cushion at the top of the Championship to just five points last night.

Boro's win at Charlton and the Sky Blues' draw at 10-man Preston meant a 10-point lead became five in the space of four days.

Elsewhere, there were important wins for QPR and Southampton in the play-off race, while Swansea picked up a big three points in the relegation scrap over Portsmouth.
