We are having a minute's applause for the late John Robertson, the former Celtic assistant who passed away the other day.

Of course, also a Nottingham Forest and Scotland legend.

The sense among Celtic fans inside and outside this stadium has been one of nervousness. Not the norm over a number of seasons when they would usually relish the idea of facing their opponents at home.

There's little wonder given recent results and performances.

In contrast, the visiting support seem to believe that they come here with a real chance. They have their own deficiencies but are finding ways to win. A win here would be some shot in the arm.

With Wilfried Nancy's commitment to stick to his approach, the idea that this will be a bore no-score draw like their last league meeting seems fanciful.

Both sides have their problems, but they always receive a heroes' welcome on days like this.

The third Old Firm derby of the season is moments away...

It's not fixed at Rangers, but what I would say is, there's a momentum, there's a confidence there and I think they'll take that into today's game.

Pragmatism. Winning games, it doesn't matter how you win them. Hearts was the blip, but they sorted out by the bouncebackability.

Danny Rohl will be a world-class manager within five years. For such a young manager to come along and give fans what they want in a solid well-drilled championship-chasing team is amazing. More European experience needed first, but it'll come.

In Sterling, Fernandez and Chermiti, Rangers have the height to damage Celtic's fragile defence. Meghoma and Aasgard are the weak points on the left side. Simple tactics are enough to defeat Celtic. All that's required is a good crosser - a player like Tommy McLean in the "days of yore".

Imagine telling anyone when Russell Martin was being chased out of a car park that Rangers would go into the New Year derby, at Celtic Park, you would have to say on current form slightly favourites. Scottish football truly moves in mysterious ways.

  8. Rangers a 'different' animal - Rohlpublished at 12:17 GMT 3 January

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has been pointing out to Sky Sports that this is a "different" task than he faced in a "neutral" Hampden as Celtic beat his side in the League Cup semi-final.

And he adds that it is "a different situation" because "in the last couple of weeks, we took a lot of good results. We come with more belief, with more convictions. This is important".

Explaining his team changes, he adds: "It's not so much changes from my side. [Mikey Moore] is a player who can hurt the opponent on the last line, this is what we want to do. Dujon [Sterling] is back after his recovery."

Celtic have now won only two and lost five of their latest seven games.

While still looking fragile in defence, Rangers have won four and lost two of their latest six.

However, they have lost their latest two on the road, albeit against Ferencvaros in the Europa League and leaders Hearts.

So who will win today between two unpredictable sides? Thumbs up for Celtic, thumbs down for Rangers below.

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Celtic are unbeaten against Rangers this season, winning their latest meeting, 3-1 in November's Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden.

Meanwhile, it was a 0-0 draw in their other match-up this season, at Ibrox in the league in August.

Rangers, though, won 3-2 on their last visit to Celtic Park in March and are unbeaten in their latest four Premiership meetings.

Rangers fans are optimistic, but a lot of that is down to how Celtic have been. Rangers' performance at Hearts two weeks ago, Hearts were deserved winners. Danny Rohl needs a big, big performance if he's going to leave here with anything.

Let's make one thing perfectly clear here, the only thing Celtic fear is themselves. We have an out-of-date board, a clueless manager who didn't get pre-season, a minority shareholder who has been seen less than "where's wally". Our club needs proper change and, if it means losing today, so be it.

    Andy

Nancy has persisted with his 3-4-3 formation and is destined for defeat. The Celtic midfield is too lightweight and lacks creativity, even if Yang and McCowan aren't occupying full-back roles. Nygren is too slow and wasteful at this level. Without Hatate, who will provide the through passes for Maeda? This is a disjointed Celtic team with Wilf Nancy written all over it. Bon voyage, Wilfie!

    Horace

As a diehard Celtic fan, let's get this over with. Take our punishment and get this guy Nancy on his bike before he does irrepairable damage

  15. Rohl wants 'brave' Rangerspublished at 11:56 GMT 3 January

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl tells BBC Sportsound: "It's fantastic. We leave today and there were a lot of fans and supporters. We will fight, we will put a lot of effort in and hopefully we can give our fans a good game and a good result.

"We know in this game, in these big games, it's not about the last results, it's just about the 90 minutes. We have to be prepared.

"I see a team who is emotionally ready, that has a belief and hopefully we see as well the tactical structure that we want to see as well.

"Hopefully, I picked the right players for today. As a group, not just 11 players, there are 20 players in the dressing room that are ready to go together.

"[Winning would be] a step for the three points, but of course it's a signal that we are really back in the race, what everyone wants.

"I want to see a team who is brave and make the next step in the big games and it will be to take a result today."

  16. 'I like to adapt' - Nancypublished at 11:53 GMT 3 January

    Celtic v Rangers (12:30 GMT)

Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy tells BBC Scotland: "This is a special game... now the idea is to play our game."

Explaining his team changes, the Frenchman says: "The adaption is about the emotion, how we can play with emotion but balance the emotion in good moments and difficult moments, this is the key.

"We're going to play to compete [and] do everything to win this game. I like to adapt. The meaning of adapt for you, I don't know what that means. For me, I'm able to adapt."

Not surprised [with the Rangers XI] to be quite honest. Rangers come into this one with momentum.

The feeling will be, "we will never have a better chance of coming to Parkhead and getting a win" just with the disarray Celtic are in.

Rangers can't come into this any better in terms of confidence. I think they'll be expected to come here and get some sort of a result.
