Wolves

Finally from Wolves' boss Gary O'Neil, speaking to Sky Sports: "A good point. It's one you feel like you could've won, but then you feel like you could've lost it.

"I liked a lot of it and we stood-up when it was tough as well. I was pleased with most of it, there are bits we want to improve but a busy and unsettling week for everybody. A disaster to go 1-0 down with how we started the game.

"But an incredible reaction and a fantastic finish from JJ [Jean Bellegarde].

"1-0 away from home there isn't too many times you come back to get something from the game. The Premier League season is going to be tough and we will need a lot of that bravery and togetherness."

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports: "We did a lot of good things, things that normally can guide us to a win, especially the way we finished the game.

"Overall a good performance, but with all my respect we could have got the two [extra] points.

"When we scored immediately Wolves reacted. In the next minute the team didn't settle down - it was a mistake.

"In the first half the game stopped and didn't flow, a lot of disruptions in the game. In the second half it was much better. This season we have started well."

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank to Sky Sports: "The pressing was brilliant and we should have scored more than three today. Overall it was a very strong and good performance. We had three to five big chances that we could put in the back of the net. The second goal was brilliant pressure. We won it well.

"They [Mbeumo and Wissa] link up well and connect well on and off the pitch. That's good. Both are very good players and can give us goals. That is so important.

"Ivan is a top player, I wish him all the best. He was just in the dressing room to say goodbye to his friends. I said a few things to him and he said things to me. It was very nice. it's very difficult to replace him but we showed last year until Bryan got injured. We added Igor Thiago too."

Manchester City have been wonderful. They lead 2-1 with two goals from Erling Haaland.

But West Ham, massively against the run of play, equalised thanks to Ruben Dias' own goal, before Haaland blasted City back in front.

While there only remains one goal in it, this one's not over yet, but West Ham will need to be much better in the second half.

At the other end, West Ham, with only their second attempt of the match, nearly make it 2-2 with Mohammed Kudus nudging the ball on to his left foot, driving across goal but wide of the post.

A booking for Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne, stretching out with a slide tackle and catching Michail Antonio. Easy yellow card.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola: "A crazy, crazy game. If I'm being honest it's probably not a game we deserved to win. I think they started to get tired. It was a huge game for us because next we play Chelsea (home) and Liverpool (away).

"It will help with confidence. We cannot forget what happened earlier in the game and we have to play better as a team. There are things we have to improve a lot.

"Everyone kept pushing - even the defenders - until the end. We were running out of energy. We have to give credit to the players."

Liz: Haaland is what happens when you actually let players recover rather than making them play a tournament every summer and pointless extras like the Nations League. Being from Norway is to his benefit and ours. Now more CL, more WC? Look at how fresh he is and learn.

Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "We didn't see the game through, simple as that. It was from not doing the hard yards, win your tackles and your races. Our body language said it all.

"We were in complete control, we know we didn't take our chances. When they got one I could smell it in the air, not necesarilly that we would lose it but I felt we had not won it here.

"You have to see the game through. You have to play for every second of the game and if you don't do that anomalies can happen."

Erling Haaland has two goals and should have had an assist, with his first time pass finding Rico Lewis, only for the teenager to shoot wastefully over the top.

If that had been the other way around, City would be 3-1 up.

Manchester City have lost just one of their last 87 Premier League games in which they've opened the scoring (won 76, drawn 10), losing 1-2 to Manchester United in January 2023.

Wolves

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil, speaking to BBC MOTD: "Improvement and it's a tough place to come.

"A fairly even game and a fair result. Lots of good bits and crazy bits, but a good solid away performance where we looked a threat and we weathered pressure. It looked like we could have scored a winner.

"It was a poor goal from us to concede, but we were able to bounce back. Off the back of a busy week and a tough week - the 6-2 defeat to Chelsea, cup game and transfer window.

"It's an unsettling week for everybody there's a lot going on."

On Sam Johnstone's debut and Jose Sa remaining at the club: "A good debut and he has not played much recently, it was a good start to his Wolves career.

"It's an unsettling week, there is a lot going on, Jose Sa had a bit going on.

"I had a big decision around goalkeeping and we decided it was Sam today. But Jose will be back training with the group when he returns from Portugal. The idea is him and Sam fight it out for the shirt."

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, speaking to Match of the Day: “I’m very happy because after three matches we have six points. We lost against Arsenal but competed the way we wanted. To get three points here today is fantastic.

“We competed very well in the first match against West Ham, in the second game against Arsenal and again here today.

“We have some days off now. We want a rest. We need to prepare for the next weeks in the Premier League and the Champions League.

“We have a lot of players going with the national teams now. It’s good, because it tells us the players are progressing. It’s fantastic.”

On Ollie Watkins: “Ollie didn’t score but I’m happy with him. This is the way. He’s playing very well. He’s doing his work but he’s getting his chances. He’s going to score.”
