Ousmane Dembele has been sensational at this World Cup. It looks like he has got his boots on the wrong feet. He has been dreadful.

  2. 'I have never celebrated so many duels won'published at 20:57 BST

    HT: France 0-1 Spain

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live at Dallas Stadium

Oyarzabal is the perfect example of a Luis de la Fuente player. He scored of course, but he is the trigger for the press. It is the kind of game where you focus on the stuff the team does without the ball. I have never celebrated so many duels won, offsides won, and defensive actions.

Are we seeing the final hours of Didier Deschamps' 14-year reign as France boss? Those Bastille Day celebrations are falling a little flat as it stands after a hugely frustrating first half. No attempts on target by Les Bleus who have also lost William Saliba to injury.

  4. 'France's worst half of the tournamentpublished at 20:55 BST

    HT: France 0-1 Spain

    Chris Sutton
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live at Dallas Stadium

France have had their worst half of the tournament. Spain are deservedly in front. Thinking for Didier Deschamps to do at half-time.

France have their work cut out to get themselves back into this one.

In only one of the last 11 World Cup semi-finals has the team that conceded first reached the final - Croatia against England in 2018.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:52 BST

    France 0-1 Spain

Mikel Oyarzabal's penalty, after Lucas Digne had kicked Lamine Yamal, is the difference at the break.

To be fair I don’t think England have anything to fear here from either side.

Steady Paul, we've got to get past Argentina and Lionel Messi first.

I'll say it again. Spain are the best team on the ball and the best team out of possession. They are working so hard out of possession.

With all the attacking quality on the pitch, we have only had one shot on target - the penalty which went in from Mikel Oyarzabal.

Can see Rabiot getting an early shower here.

That should be a second yellow card, but he should never have had a first yellow. A crazy challenge. Reckless Rabiot. Blimey.

    France 0-1 Spain

France midfielder Adrien Rabiot is walking a tightrope. He is already on a yellow and fouls Fabian Ruiz. The referee decides a foul is enough and maybe the fact Rabiot didn't catch more of the Ruiz boot keeps him on the pitch.

  13. 'Dembele has thrown himself to the floor'published at 20:45 BST

    France 0-1 Spain

    Chris Sutton
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live at Dallas Stadium

That is not a free-kick. Fabian Ruiz is in rage. Ousmane Dembele overruns the ball, and he should be booked for this. Dembele has thrown himself to the floor.

Spain's Fabian Ruiz is originally penalised for a foul on Ousmane Dembele, but there looked to be nothing in it and the decision is quickly reversed.

Kylian Mbappe has been caught offside more times (twice) than he has had touches in the opposition box so far today (one).

This is a masterclass from Spain so far in how to negate that French front line.

Spain will know their lead is still a fragile one. Goalkeeper Unai Simon runs out of his penalty area and produces a sliding challenge as if he is the right-back. He needed to be spot on, and he was, getting to the ball just before Kylian Mbappe could nick it past him.

France need to be braver on the ball in the middle of the park. Spain are pressing them, and they're the more aggressive team. When you think about how impotent Kylian Mbappe has been in this first half. He has hardly had a touch of the ball.

Arguably the best front three at this tournament but France are toothless if they can't get the ball out of their own half. Spain are bullying them all across the pitch.
