Martin Woods awards the free-kick, but there's no caution.

Regan Booty lines up a free-kick in a dangerous area... but it cannons off Callum Whelan and behind for a corner.

Perhaps not quite the blood and thunder we always imagine these play-off games to be in the opening 20 minutes.

Credit must go to Boreham Wood for their controlled possession, which has helped to quieten the crowd a bit.

They have looked the better side so far.

  3. 'Abdulmalik is a really dangerous player'published at 12:56 BST 3 May

When we are talking about Boreham Wood being tired, they are getting a lot of rest on the ball.

Abdul Abdulmalik is a really dangerous player as well, he is causing problems.

  4. CLOSE!published at 23 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

Abdul Abdulmalik with some more positive play on the Wood left, blazing past Josh Williams and firing in a low cross which Ryan Galvin deflects behind, not too far from his own goal.

The corner is won by Matt Rush in the middle and the ball breaks to James Clarke but his whipped effort across goal sails past the far post.

Leon Ayinde wants to join the wide-man showcase and shows some nice touches in the Carlisle box before winning a corner off Morgan Feeney.

Regan Booty drills the corner to the back stick where Chris Bush's looping header back across goal is claimed by Gabe Breeze under pressure in his goalmouth.

  6. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

David Ajiboye's turn to showcase his attacking skills as he weaves into the Wood box before tumbling to ground under slight pressure from Regan Booty as he tried to get a shot away on the run, but though the home fans appeal for a penalty, it looks as though he just lost his footing at the crucial moment.

  7. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

Abdul Abdulmalik is in the mood today.

He jinks inside David Ajiboye on the left and drives towards the box before unleashing a low shot from just outside the box which flashes past the base of Gabe Breeze's right post.

  8. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

Signs Carlisle are just finding their feet as they win a corner on the right, though big Chris Bush nods away Callum Whelan's high set-piece.

  9. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

    Better from the Blues.

A left-wing cross from Regan Linney is gathered deep on the right by David Ajiboye who cuts inside and pokes back for Callum Whelan who swings a curling shot from the edge of the box across goal and inches past the far post with keeper Ted Curd flat-footed.

  10. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

First shot on target comes for Wood as a throw-in breaks to Zak Brunt on the edge of the box to take a touch and rifle in a half-volley which Gabe Breeze clutches as he flops to his left.

A few grumbles from the home stands, but the pocket of travelling fans might be bleary-eyed but will be loving this start.

  11. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

It might be packed but it's rather quiet at Brunton Park, where Wood have enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges.

No real intensity from Carlisle yet and a hopeful long ball in the vague direction of Regan Linney drifts out of play for a Wood goal kick.

  12. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

Abdul Abdulmalik is a real talisman for Wood and he slaloms his way in from the left wing and into the United box, making room for a cross-shot, but it flicks off the sliding Morgan Feeney and loops over the bar.

The corner comes to nothing, however.

Best atmosphere and crowd here since we beat (Mark Hughes'!) Bradford in May 2023! Like the old days seniors like me can remember in the Div 1 days 1974-74!

    Trevor, Tyneside

If Carlisle bring their 'A' game they should win comfortably. Up the Blues.

    Stephen, Workington

So excited for this. Yes, we've drawn and lost to Boreham Wood but our turn today. A real opportunity here so come on today Carlisle and enjoy the next 90 minutes hopefully.

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

Positive start from the visitors as they try to pen the Blues back into their own half and are enjoying most of the ball.

Carlisle are opting to play out from the back with short goal-kicks and are attempting to play it through the Wood press.

  15. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Carlisle 0-0 Boreham Wood

The last time there was a packed house like this at Brunton Park, Mark Hughes was in the dugout.

Thing is he was Bradford boss and his side went down 3-1 to the Blues in the League Two play-offs on 20 May 2023.

He'll likely be hoping for a similar result but an improved mood this afternoon.

Wood have won an early corner... but it's blazed over from the edge of the box by defender Chris Bush.

Shout out to those fans from Hertfordshire tucked away in the corner, who got up in the middle of the night to get to this one.

They may be smallish in number, but do not question their commitment.

The supporters' bus heading north left at 3.30am for the trek up the M1 and the M6.

That is some effort on a bank holiday weekend.

  18. Teams are out...published at 12:28 BST 3 May

For one of these teams their season will be over in 90 minutes from now.

The stakes could not be higher.

    Kick-off is moments away...

We are going to have to bring our A game against a good footballing side in Boreham Wood. I am looking forward to this one but just hoping Carlisle can bring their best and not get overwhelmed by the occasion.
