Looking at Everton’s lineup today is that the closest there’s been to a full English XI this season? What a delicious rarity!

From a corner, James Tarkowski's header is cleared off the line by Igor Thiago. The other way round would have been less surprising.

  6. 'It says a lot when you are disappointed with a point'published at 15:07 GMT 4 January

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Man Utd

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Daniel Farke speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It's always on point gained if you have a home game against Manchester United. As a newly promoted side of course you are the underdog but we are a bit disappointed because it was also possible to win the game. We looked a bit tired and also we were missing many key players.

"Football wise it was probably not our best performance but we found a way to defend really well and go forward, so it was definitely possible to win. It says a lot when you are disappointed with just one point against Manchester United as a promoted side."

On what impressed him most: "The mentality because we had to go over the line away at Liverpool and then with many players out, then to play with less mistakes today and not allow many chances. We showed good resilience and also for that it was a good point."

On Aaronson's goal: "In the last weeks he has shown some great, man of the match performances, and right now he is showing with goals and assists for us. He is still a young lad and can improve in a few areas, there's no doubt about it, but he is on a good path."

On seven games unbeaten: "It is always good for the confidence if you have such period, so we take it and move on. it is important to stay hungry and greedy because we need a few more to achieve our goals."

  12. 'We deserved a little better'published at 15:03 GMT 4 January

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim speaking to BBC MOTD: "In the Premier League, it is hard to find a game you are satisfied with a draw, that is why it is an amazing league.

"Overall, if you see the game we had more control. We created more chances, we controlled well, so if you look at the game you feel the frustration that we had the chance to win. It is a tough match in tough conditions.

"The game plan was to understand what we did wrong against Wolves. We improved a lot because we were in the right positions. We improved from the last game.

"It's strange because they started a little bit better in the second half. When we are in control, we need to be focused in every detail. We know against West Ham, we are in control then one disconnection, there was a goal. We need to be connected all the time.

"We managed to control our emotions and to score the next goal, and we had a big chance. I think we deserved a little better, but it's okay."

  13. Postpublished at 15:03 GMT 4 January

  17. 'We had our opportunities to win the game'published at 14:58 GMT 4 January

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim speaking to TNT Sports: "I think we played well. I think we had more control in this game than we showed against Wolves. That is important because it shows how you can prepare for this week with the mistakes that we learned from the last game. We controlled Leeds, on the set pieces, the second balls, they are really quick up front. We controlled it well.

"We had our opportunities to win the game. We are losing games on the details - the Leeds goal, we are controlling the game and then one kick of the ball in transition but we managed to get back into the game. Last year it would be completely different. This year we are more in control of the games than we were last year but we are frustrated not to win."

On the Leeds goal: "Ayden and Leny are really young but it is not because of that. If you play so well during 90m minutes and you have a mistake that can happen. If you look at the game we had chances to score the second one and nobody would be talking about the goal of Leeds."

On Cunha: "Not just him but Josh [Zirkzee] played well in the 20 minutes he had, Ben [Sesko] linked the play well today, Ugarte is showing that he has more to give, and I am really pleased. If these guys play well we always have the chance to win the game."

On the window: "United is one of the best clubs in the world. If you are here and focusing on a different club then something is wrong with you. Just focus on the game and prepare with the players that we havee. We have more too, I expect more minutes for Fernandes and Mount, so we have more players that can help us."

  18. 'Newcastle don't gain anything from playing both Wissa and Woltemade'published at 14:56 GMT 4 January

Newcastle v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

On whether Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade need to start together:

I think Woltemade could be a great number 10. I think he's more of a 10 anyway than a traditional number nine. We've said before you play them both, that midfield three right now that has been the key in their success for Eddie Howe and Newcastle, Joelinton, Tonali and Bruno.

I'm not sure what yo would gain from playing Woltemade. You would lose what that midfield gives you.

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke speaking to TNT Sports: "If you play Man Utd as a newly-promoted side it's always a good point. Also a good point, it wasn't our best game today football-wise, it was a bit scruffy, you could see a few key players were out and we were a bit tired today.

"Nevertheless we found a way. We forced an opener and would have taken all three points, so for that I'm a bit disappointed, but if I calm down I have to say it's a fair point."

"It's a good point, another point on our tally and extend the gap a little bit. Resilience in a difficult game for us, but I'm still a bit disappointed it wasn't three points."

"We had to play with fire in the heart and cool in the head. It's difficult when you have such a schedule. We kept a clean sheet away at Liverpool, then two and a half days later everyone tells you it's the most important game in the last three years. Everyone is super excited.

"It was important to play aggressive and with intensity, and find a good balance. Football definitely wasn't the best today, but another good point."

On how proud he is of the team recently: "We always give everything, and also physically we go over the line. Today that was necessary.

"We are on a good path."

No Europe and no extra games and extra recovery time between games. It's a really appalling return of 5pts from 12 over this period for United. The performances haven't been good and the upcoming fixtures could see Ruben in a lot of bother. Fed up.
