    Preston North End

Going to be a busy day at Deepdale. Armstrong is a no-go now so a midfielder definitely needed. Moran looks the ideal replacement. PNE need another striker too so hopefully the club pull their finger out for Lang in order to challenge for the play-offs.

Any substance to the rumours of Derry Murkin to Derby?

    Jonathan, Milton Keynes

Absolutely, Jonathan. Here's what BBC Radio Derby's Dominic Dietrich has been reporting:

Derby County are hoping to land FC Utrecht left-back Derry Murkin on a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old was born in Colchester but has never played in English football before.

  18. What's the Championship spend this window?published at 15:41 GMT 2 February

    Deadline day

    Paul MacDonald
    FootballTransfers.com

We're currently at £39.5m spent in this window with Birmingham being the most active; their acquisitions of Carlos Vicente and August Priske for a combined £13m has been the standout spend of the window.

This level is slightly above what most Championship clubs spend in January with the exception of January 2025, when £86.1m was the record outlay in winter.

Including business conducted in the summer that would take transfer spend in the Championship for 25-26 to £349m, easily the record for spending in a single season, surpassing, unsurprisingly, 24-25 which was £317m.

And that's of course before any additional business to be completed today.

It's worth remembering that Birmingham have also completed a permanent deal for winger Patrick Roberts so far today.

Can't see Watford bringing in anything other than a token Udinese loan. Gracia quit because the owner simply refuses to spend the money required to push the squad into the play-offs. Can see our best assets being prised away in the summer. Frustrating.
