    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Ferencvaros

    Off the post!

So close to the opening goal for Ferencvaros. The corner comes in from the left, striker Kristoffer Zachariassen gets his head on it and the ball flies back out off the upright.

    Great effort.

Superb bit of play from Ferencvaros' Jonathan Levi. He pulls the ball out of the air with a fabulous touch and then a superb pass out to the left.

Gabor Szalai's shot is then deflected behind for a corner.

A reminder that Villa are already through to the last 16 but a win for RB Salzburg tonight will put them into the play-offs.

Could still be an interesting night at Villa Park.

Ferencvaros do like to keep possession, they like to build in a measured way and the switch is always on.

Dan Ndoye cuts in from the left and fizzes a tantalising cross into middle. Just too far into front of Igor Jesus when any touch might have been enough.

By the looks of things around 100-150 fans in the away section.

A banner displaying the text 'Gruppo fanatico' is hung up proudly by those in the front row.

My rough translation would be a fantastic group. They'll have to go some to be heard above the home support.

Really interesting to see what happens with Harvey Elliott if he has a great game tonight.

Can Unai Emery continue to leave him out with so many injuries?

  8. 'Keeper gets lucky'published at 20:04 GMT 29 January

    Martin Keown

    It's a great start here.

How's the goalkeeper's luck there? He'll say it's down to good goalkeeping but it's luck.

Yes Villa messed up the deal for Elliott because they now don't see the value in it but Liverpool hold the solution to all this. He's their player, help his development and just waive the mandatory transfer fee!!

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Ferencvaros

Early chance for Forest to get the ball into the box after a heavy touch from a Ferencvaros defender gives them a throw-in high up the pitch.

Zach Abbott launches it in but the visitors clear with minimal fuss.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:03 GMT 29 January

    Aston Villa 0-0 RB Salzburg

Almost a dream start for Harvey Elliott in this game. He forces Alexander Schlager into the most fortunate save you'll see. The goalkeeper dives and the ball hits his heel.

    Wow.

Nottingham Forest's last couple of Premier League fixtures they have done well, in terms of results. They will have been disappointed with the last fixture away at Braga.

When you go away in the Europa League and dominate a team you expect to come away with the three points.

I understand the restrictions which have led to Elliott being lost at sea this season. But I just wish a bit more foresight had been used by both Villa and Liverpool's recruitment, it seemed a silly move regardless. The clauses which could activate a permanent transfer have ruined Elliott's season.

    Harry, Manchester

Villa fan here. I hope Elliott really does have a blinder. I think the poor lad has been treated appallingly by my club, & a huge mistake was made with the terms of the loan deal.

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, speaking to TNT Sports: "Good evening. Now we are in the top eight and we want to finish first. And of course to keep going with our mentality here at home with our support and we must play to transmit our energy.

"We have made some changes but overall we are playing with players who are used to playing in different competitions."

It has been a bleak season for Nottingham Forest's goal-scoring form.

They currently have the second-lowest goal tally in the Premier League as they sit five points clear of the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche said last season's top scorer, Chris Wood, is making "steady progress" as he continues to recover from a knee problem suffered in October.

To add to Forest's injury woes, Nicolo Savona is not involved in tonight's game due to a knee injury.

To counter Dyche's injury worries, he confirmed the club is "looking at different positions" to recruit new players and that the club will continue "being proactive to try and strengthen" Forest's squad.

  18. Injuries make Villa look to transfer marketpublished at 19:50 GMT 29 January

Aston Villa v Red Bull Salzburg (20:00 GMT)

Villa have dipped into the transfer market after injuries have obliterated their midfield. Boubacar Kamara is out for the rest of the season, John McGinn will miss the next two months and Youri Tielemans is expected to have a spell on the sidelines.

So it's welcome back to some familiar faces in Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz.

But unfortunately for Unai Emery, they aren't available tonight.

  19. Anderson suspended for Forestpublished at 19:48 GMT 29 January

Elliot Anderson is sent off against BragaImage source, Getty Images

Nottingham Forest will be without midfielder Elliot Anderson for tonight's game after he was sent off for foul and abusive language in the loss at Braga last week.

It was a night to forget for Sean Dyche's team as Anderson's red card completed their footballing unholy trinity - missed a penalty, scored an own goal and had a man sent off.

The performance around those incidents wasn't brilliant either.

  20. 'Forest have struggled when they've made changes'published at 19:46 GMT 29 January

Nottingham Forest v Ferencvaros (20:00 GMT)

    Joleon Lescott
Former Aston Villa defender on TNT Sports

Even in this competition Nottingham Forest have struggled when they have made changes. I am sure he [Sean Dyche] is expecting a positive performance off the back off two clean sheets.

The longer you can have unbeaten runs it builds confidence and boost motivation.
