Cristian Romero is here to watch this defining game for Spurs after suggestions the captain would give it a miss to watch boyhood club Belgrano play in the Argentine Primera Division final.

He is on the touchline and has just been embraced Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi. De Zerbi then walked onto the pitch and tried to whip up the pre-match atmosphere.

Not that it needs much whipping up. It is intense.

It is 14 years since West Ham last played in the Championship and these three fans, Phil, Steve and Will, remember that time well.

Back then - the 2011-12 season - the Hammers were in the Championship for just one campaign as they were immediately promoted back to the Premier League through the play offs, but these three supporters don't feel it will be as easy this time if they do go down.

"As a fan base I feel we have accepted relegation," Phil says.

"The Championship is a tough league, we've been there before. There are no guarantees."

Will added: "I've already accepted relegation. Any other result today is a bonus. You never know what happens and maybe we have an outside chance."

Tottenham boss Roberto de Zerbi has opted to largely keep faith with the side that lost 2-1 against Chelsea last time out.

Djed Spence, fresh from his call-up to England's World Cup squad, gets the nod to start over Randal Kolo Muani.

I have played in games where relegation is at stake and it's about courage. A game at this level is played in the head.

I think one of the big points today is the fans. They can get the lads over the line. The fans have got to make the 90 minutes very uncomfotable for Everton and make the Tottenham players feel like heroes. Fans can carry players like this.

After plenty of speculation in the week, Spurs captain Cristian Romero is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today to support his team-mates in their bid to avoid relegation.

I think [Micky] Van de Ven is a very important person for Spurs today.

In a strange way, I think Richarlison - who I think can be very annoying - has this attitude that can either be fantastic or a distaster. Hoepfully for him it works today.

[James] Maddison is crucial and I hope he plays today. I think he is a steadying force and he can pull all of those levers that can get Spurs over the line.

I think Spurs will be a more nervous place than West Ham because West Ham fans may be slightly resigned [to relegation] whereas Spurs fans know that they have the better chance but that might make them more nervous. If West Ham score early then all hell could break loose.

It remains to be seen if this ends up being Marco Silva’s final game in charge – or if the Fulham manager signs a new contract.

Chairman Shahid Khan's programme notes today effectively cover both eventualities.

“Our head coach Marco Silva has been absolutely integral to everything we’ve achieved," he writes. "He’s a major part of the foundation we’re building and he’s aware of our collective ambition for the seasons ahead.”

Silva is entering the final weeks of his current deal and will make a decision on his future in the coming days.

What is not in doubt, however, is that this is a big summer for Fulham – and the same is true of today's opponents, Newcastle United.

A significant rebuild is on the cards in the coming months.

Kieran Trippier will play his last game for the club today while this could yet prove the final occasion Anthony Gordon is named in a match day squad, even if there admittedly remains a gap in valuation between Newcastle and Bayern Munich for the forward.

This will be a very different final day for Newcastle compared to a year ago when Eddie Howe’s side sealed qualification for the Champions League.

But Howe is desperate to sign off with a win and some positive momentum following a recent upturn in results.

Mohamed Salah's haul of 257 goals for Liverpool has pushed him past the likes of Sir Kenny Dalglish, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard. Only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) have scored more.

"Mohamed knew what he had to do to become a Liverpool legend and he took it to a different level," Rush told BBC Sport.

"He couldn't believe how many goals I scored. So he actually said to me: 'Did you count your goals in training?'

"So he's got that Scouse sense of humour as well. But it's not just goals; you look at the number of assists and he's a complete footballer."

A last day of all possibilities lies ahead for Brighton, including a place in Europe's elite club competition for the first time.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side will qualify for the Champions League, if they win, Liverpool win, Aston Villa lose and Bournemouth lose.

They could end up in the Europa League through numerous combinations of results, the Conference League, by losing to Manchester United and either Brentford winning at Liverpool or someone winning out of Sunderland’s home game with Chelsea.

Or they could miss out completely if they lose, Brentford win and someone wins at the Stadium of Light.

Clearly, the Champions League for the first time in their history would represent a significant milestone for the Seagulls, but Europe of any description would be an achievement for a club that has had one European campaign in its entire history.

There’s going to be a lot of score checking going on at the Amex Stadium today.

Crystal Palace have the small matter of a Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig this coming Wednesday.

So Oliver Glasner's priority for the visit of Mikel Arteta's Premier League champions will be to come through the contest with his players unscathed.

Nevertheless, Selhurst Park will want to give their players a decent send off for the trip to Germany - and in his final home game as Palace boss Glasner will want to sign off with victory.

Aston Villa

It's been a draining week for Aston Villa fans after they won the Europa League on Wednesday - their first major trophy in 30 years.

Villa supporters might still be nursing hangovers from an emotional day day in Istanbul, and their players have had a long and demanding season fighting on a few fronts.

But Unai Emery is not the kind of the manager to approach this contest in a half-hearted manner.

Emery, whose Villa team claimed a 1-0 win over City when the sides met last October, will surely relish the opportunity to spoil Pep Guardiola's farewell party.

Today is the final time we will see Mohamed Salah in a Liverpool shirt. Weird, right?

Eyebrows were raised when Jurgen Klopp brought Salah to Anfield in 2017 for £34m after a failed spell at Chelsea.

But Salah will surely go down as one of the greatest players to have graced the Premier League.
