    FA Cup second-round latest

Wigan have taken the lead against Barrow and it's Jamie Carragher's son James who has got the goal for the Latics.

Visiting goalkeeper Wyll Stanway failed to deal with a corner and Carragher was on hand to header in at the far post.

The League One hosts keen to avoid an upset against their League Two opponents.

  2. 'A dreadful mistake at the back'published at 15:18 GMT 6 December 2025

    Cheltenham 0-1 Buxton

    Mark Halliwell
    BBC Radio Gloucestershire summariser

A dreadful mistake from Cheltenham at the back and Tal Sodje takes full advantage.

He was quick to capitalise on the lack of concentration and finished the effort well.

  3. goal

GOAL: Grimsby 2-0 Wealdstonepublished at 15:17 GMT 6 December 2025

    Kieran Green (15 mins)

The League Two side double their advantage inside 15 minutes!

Midfielder Kieran Green's long-range strike deceives the Wealdstone keeper and hits the roof of the net.

It looks like there will be no repeat of Wealdstone's FA Cup shock at Grimsby last year happening today!

    Fleetwood 0-0 Luton

Ryan Graydon puts some venom on a strike from the centre of the box but instead of puncturing the net, he's stinging Luton stopper James Shea's gloves.

First shot on target. The Cods are looking dangerous.

  5. goal

GOAL: Cheltenham 0-1 Buxtonpublished at 15:13 GMT 6 December 2025

    Tai Sodje (13 mins)

    Now then.....

The National League North side have the lead and it's a calamitous error from Cheltenham defender Scot Bennett, returning to the side.

He lets the ball roll under his foot and Tai Sodje pounces on to the loose ball. The former Manchester City graduate expertly beats Joe Day at his near post one-on-one with his left foot to give the Bucks the lead.

Terrific start to the side from two divisions below.

    Cheltenham 0-0 Buxton

Buxton have settled well early into this one and Luke Brennan has caused Cheltenham a couple of problems down the left hand side without producing any meaningful goalmouth action as of yet.

  7. Hole in net delays kick-off at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:12 GMT 6 December 2025

    FA Cup second-round latest

Goalless across the rest of the games at the moment.

Perhaps the biggest talking point so far has come at Chelmsford City as their clash with fellow National League South side Weston-super-Mare was delayed by a couple of minutes due to a hole in the net. Proper football some might say.

A reminder that at least two sixth-tier sides will be in the hat for the third round, with Slough Town also facing Macclesfield tomorrow.

  9. PENALTY TO SWINDONpublished at 15:09 GMT 6 December 2025

    Swindon 0-0 Bolton

The whistle has blown on Bolton's Chris Forino for handball in the box and the referee points at spot.

This could be a great start for Swindon.

    Fleetwood 0-0 Luton

Fleetwood are looking lively in these opening moments but they almost have a mishap at the back that costs them.

Luton's Lasse Nordas is free as a bird at the back and picks up Joe Johnson's pass.

Nordas gets around the keeper but the Cods defenders slide in just in time to prevent an opener.

  11. goal

GOAL: Grimsby 1-0 Wealdstonepublished at 15:08 GMT 6 December 2025

    Jaze Kabia (7 mins)

We have our first goal today in the FA Cup second round!

It's good work from Charlie Vernam who finds Jaze Kabia in the middle and the striker, returning to the side, fires his shot past Dante Astor Baptiste to give the hosts the opener.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:07 GMT 6 December 2025

    Cheltenham 0-0 Buxton

It's an early blow for Cheltenham as Ryan Broom looks to have pulled a hamstring and has to be withdrawn by Arkell Jude-Boyd.

    Grimsby 0-0 Wealdstone

Grimsby name a strong side this afternoon against Wealdstone.

Charlie Vernam continues on the left for the home side while Josh McEachran and Jaze Kabia return to the starting line-up.

As for the visitors, it looks like a 4-4-2 for Wealdstone, with Olufela Olomola and Micah Obiero leading the line.

  14. 'Excited start from Buxton'published at 15:04 GMT 6 December 2025

    Cheltenham 0-0 Buxton

    Peter Matthews
BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Cheltenham Town commentator

Cheltenham have been such slow starters of late and they need to be careful with that today.

It has been an excited start from Buxton, as to be expected.

  15. Postpublished at 15:03 GMT 6 December 2025

    Swindon 0-0 Bolton

Swindon's team sees a return for Filozofe Mabete.

The defender missed last weekend's trip to Chesterfield, while he spent the previous two league matches on the bench.

Meanwhile for Bolton, Thierry Gale makes a start after a much longer break.

He's been out for six league games and has only made one cup appearance this season in the EFL Trophy.

  16. Postpublished at 15:01 GMT 6 December 2025

    Cheltenham 0-0 Buxton

Buxton get us underway in the sun.

The Buxton fans, approximately about 500 or so, are having a good sing-song behind the goal they are defending in the first half.

Cheltenham have made just two changes from the side that lost at Colchester United last Saturday - Scott Bennett and Hakeeb Adelakun, who makes his debut, are in for Sam Sherring and Ethon Archer.

Meanwhile Buxton, who are made up of full-time professionals, make three alterations from the side that beat Chatham Town in the first round as captain Connor Kirby starts and former Manchester City graduate Tai Sodje leads the line.

  19. What's happening elsewherepublished at 14:50 GMT 6 December 2025

    FA Cup second round

League Two's Accrington Stanley will seek revenge on League One's Mansfield Town after the Stags took the win in their only other FA Cup encounter in 2006.

National League South side Weston-super-Mare will look to reach the third round for the first time ever as they make the trip to visit divisional rivals Chelmsford City.

Exeter City and Wycombe Wanderers may have gone up against each other in the League One but this afternoon marks their first FA Cup meeting, with both sides competing for bragging rights.

Oldham Athletic's Michael Mellon scored a hat-trick in the Latics' first-round win over Northampton and his side will be hoping he can repeat those heroics when they make the trip to MK Dons.

Peterborough and Barnsley haven't met in a cup competition since the 1993-94 season and in the FA Cup? Never. History on its way but whose side is it going to favour?

Bristol Rovers have been pretty dismal in League Two this season but are yet to lose in a cup competition. Now though, they visit a Port Vale side struggling in League One and desperate to prove that they are a cut above those in the division they hope to avoid returning to.

League Two's Cambridge United have a topsy-turvy history across their last nine second round ties in the FA Cup (W4 L5) and their "barmy" hampered injury list will not do them any favours when they make the trip to League One promotion chasers Stockport County.

Barrow have a reputation as higher league hitmen in recent FA Cup history and will be looking to make League One's Wigan the third victim in four games with higher division opponents as they visit the The Brick Community Stadium this afternoon.

  20. Can Wealdstone upset Grimsby again?published at 14:45 GMT 6 December 2025

    Grimsby v Wealdstone (15:00 GMT)

    Naz Premji
BBC Final Score at Blundell Park

There's a real sense of deja-vu for these two as Weadstone look to cause another FA Cup upset against this opposition for the second season running.

Fans of the National League side will remember a famous win here in the first round last season with a late goal from Alex Reid and the visitors are now looking to make it back-to-back wins against the Mariners - this time in round two with the hope that they can get one of the big boys in round three if they can get the victory.

The form book is on their side: David Artell's side are in a real poor run of form and they haven't won in their past four games in League Two.

In fact, one of their only victories recently was the first round win against Ebbsfleet United here back on 1 November.

Grimsby face a team one division lower who are on a great run of form being unbeaten in their past six league games - and that includes a good draw against high-flying Forest Green Rovers.

If you are looking for the cupset, maybe just maybe Blundell Park can deliver again with the Stones looking to emulate the team from 1977 who made it into the FA Cup third round.
