That's four 1-0 wins at home on the spin for the Premiership leaders.

Hearts move five points clear of Celtic, who face Dundee United tomorrow, and six in front of Rangers before they play Aberdeen at Ibrox in 50 minutes' time.

For a game that was hyped up, this failed to deliver.

Apart from a disallowed goal for Motherwell's Elijah Just in the first half, there was very little in the way of action.

Each team has gone three games without a win as Motherwell stay six points above Hibs in the battle for fourth spot and a place in European competition next season.

Managerless St Mirren produced an upset to stun top-six hopefuls Falkirk and boost their chances of Scottish Premiership survival.

On-form Falkirk striker Barney Stewart had the hosts in front as he capitalised on dilly-dallying in the St Mirren back line to tuck the ball into the bottom corner.

But just three minutes later, St Mirren were level as a completely unmarked Miguel Freckleton headed in an equaliser from six yards out.

In the second half, Mark O'Hara curled in a fine free-kick from the right for Liam Donnelly, who rose highest to glance his header into the far corner for the winner.

Hearts will have to see out the final three-and-a-half minutes with 10 men as Frankie Kent is sent off for a trip on Charlie Reilly.
