    Dan George
    BBC Sport at St Mary's

As we pass the hour mark Southampton have struggled to get going in this second half and Sheffield United look a bit more threateneing going forward.

Both sides have now mixed it up in the forward department, with Patrick Bamford and Adam Armstrong coming on.

Will we see either of them grab a goal in this final 25 minutes?

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:08 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

    More fresh legs for Blades.

Femi Seriki and Gus Harmer are on for the visitors with Callum O'Hare and Ki-Jana Hoever making way.

That team talk has done the trick.

Stoke keeper Tommy Simkin dives low to deny Aidan Morris but the rebound bounces the way of Alan Browne, who equalises.

Already Boro look a changed side. We have a game on our hands.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:07 GMT 21 January

    Stoke 1-0 Middlesbrough

You may be unsurprised to hear that Boro boss Kim Hellberg has made a double change at the break to try and turn this around.

Delano Burgzorg is back to the delight of many after an impressive performance last time out.

He's brought on alongside Leo Castledine to replace Alex Gilbert and Sam Silvera.

  5. Postpublished at 21:06 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Mark McGuinnes stretches out a long leg to intercept a curling ball in behind the defence but can only send it looping into the night and behind for a corner, despite the best efforts of Blades stopper Michael Cooper to prevent it.

Saints mounting some pressure as they win back-to-back corners... but Oli Arblaster blasts it clear.

Will a different Boro come out for this second half?

Or is this Stoke's victory to claim?

    Time to find out.

  7. Postpublished at 21:04 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Adam Armstrong's first touch sees him try an almost impossible near-post header from a right wing cross which glances down into the ground and skids across the face of goal, and not very close to it.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:03 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Adam Armstrong is on for Saints, seeking to end an eight-game goal drought.

He replaces Ross Stewart, who has played nicely, with half-an-hour and change remaining.

  9. 'Not a great start to the half from Pompey'published at 21:02 GMT 21 January

    Watford 0-0 Portsmouth

    Lee Brown
Former Portsmouth defender on BBC Radio Solent

It's not been a great start to the second half from Portsmouth, they can't seem to keep hold of the ball and get out.

They've got to have good possession of the ball and stop giving away cheap turnovers.

How dire are Middlesbrough. Second goal for Stoke kills this game off. Finish them second half lads!

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:02 GMT 21 January

    Watford 0-0 Portsmouth

Andre Dozzell has his name taken for a challenge on James Abankwah. Pompey doing everything at 100mph in this second half.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:01 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Patrick Bamford has got the nod from Chris Wilder, with a forlorn Tyrese Campbell the man withdrawn after a quiet night feeding off scraps.

Tahith Chong is also off, with Andre Brooks coming on.

  13. Postpublished at 21:00 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Better from Blades as Tahith Chong and Ki-Jana Hoever combine nicely on the right of the area, but Hoever's cut-back for Callum O'Hare is brilliantly forced behind for a corner.

  14. Postpublished at 20:59 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Sydie Peck's free-kick from deep on the Blades right sails beyond the back stick but is met by the head of Mark McGuinness who heads back across goal, with Daniel Peretz claiming the ball right underneath his own crossbar.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:57 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Leo Scienza wanted a free-kick after being barged over on the dribble by Ki-Jana Hoever, but didn't get one, and his frustration shows as he flies in on the Wolves loanee seconds later.

That definitely is a yellow card, though the Brazilian claims Hoever made the most of it. Evasive action, perhaps. It was a furious challenge.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:55 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Unfortunate for Sydie Peck as he loses his footing and slides into Taylor Harwood-Bellis on the edge of the Saints box as he tried to close him down.

Thomas Kirk shows him a yellow card, though it should be said there was no intent whatsoever and it is very slippery out there.

  17. 'Stoke have given it a good go'published at 20:55 GMT 21 January

    HT: Stoke 1-0 Middlesbrough

    Ian Cranson
Fomer Stoke defender on BBC Radio Stoke

Stoke started the game really well and were prepared to take the game to Middlesbrough.

The goal was a good bonus, but it should have been saved being perfectly honest about it, but they deserved that.

The flags are blowing and the wind is going to be in Stoke's favour in the second half.

They've given it a good go, started on the front foot and we've capitalised on it and took the lead. Boro showed glimpses at the end of the second half but not enough. You'd like to think we'd take this further.

We we've played as a team we've looked really threatening.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 20:52 GMT 21 January

    Watford 0-0 Portsmouth

Watford have replaced Matty Pollock with Kevin Keben at the break while Mamadou Doumbia is also on for Giorgi Chakvetadze.

Pompey have withdrawn Zak Swanson with Jordan Williams introduced to try to handle Othmane Maamma.

  19. Postpublished at 20:50 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

Sydie Peck flicks a lovely ball through to Callum O'Hare in midfield to drive forward before seeing a 20-yard snap-shot deflected wide.

Their fourth corner of the game is met by the head of Tom Cannon but it's straight at Daniel Peretz in the Saints goal.

  20. Postpublished at 20:48 GMT 21 January

    Southampton 1-0 Sheff Utd

I have lasted until the second half without mentioning this, but, sorry Blades fans... Chris Wilder has never beaten Southampton, he's never, in fact, got a point.

He's lost all five previous encounters with the Saints, only against Liverpool has he coached more games without picking up a point (six).

He'll need at least one goal if that run is to end tonight...
