Leicester forward Jordan Ayew flicks a header goalward from Stephy Mavididi's cross, but it's easy for Southampton goalkeeper George Long to gather.

A minute later Ayew gets a shot off and stings the palms of Long.

Leicester are looking the more likely to score at the moment.

Ryan Graydon does really well to drive through the City midfield and play in Josh Austerfield.

Austerfield tries to strike first time but knocks the ball away with his standing foot as Max Alleyne comes sliding in.

The home fans that are present have seen Scott Parker's side dominate possession but not particularly offer too much going forward yet aside from the gilt-edged chance for Ashley Barnes, inside three minutes.

Rayan Cherki nicks the ball on the edge of the Salford box and tries to drive one into the bottom corner.

He doesn't catch hold of it at all and the ball actually goes out for a Salford throw-in.

Salford are doing their best to snap into tackles but they're chasing shadows on the Etihad surface.

It's so tough psychologically when you are without the ball for so long. You have to stay strong, delay and wait, and then can you get an out-ball? Then can you get it forward and move.

Here's how St Mary's looks as we get this game underway.

The Chapel stand to my left has been left empty with the traveling Leicester fans in that corner of the ground.

There is already some back and forth going between the two groups of the supporters with the Saints fans singing "three nil and you messed it up" - or something similar to that in reference to their dramatic 4-3 win at the King Power on Tuesday.

Southampton are not playing in their usual colours today but instead line-up in a yellow kit that marks the 50th anniversary of their FA Cup win in 1976 - read more here.

Far too much space down that left hand side, the overload is good and Ait-Nouri is looking to cross it. There might be a deflection on it which takes it past the keeper at the near post.

Ben Woodburn (remember him?) does really well to help out at the back for Salford and win a free-kick to relieve the pressure.

He was once Liverpool's youngest goalscorer.

Ashley Barnes slides in to connect with Quilindschy Hartman's cross and expects to see the Mansfield net bulge. Instead his effort skids wide.

Under the old rules Guehi would have been cup-tied, but the Football Association now deem that "a player may play for a maximum of one other club in the competition", but a player cannot play for two different teams in the same round.

On my way into the BBC Sport office this afternoon, I saw the Salford fans making their way up to the Etihad from the centre of Manchester.

They were all in fine voice and that seems to be the case at the start of this game, too.
