It probably should be 2-0! Leon Bailey meets a cross but has to get low to meet it and heads the ball narrowly wide of the target. A really decent chance, no doubt about it.

Leon Bailey is left floored after Lewis Hall and Harvey Barnes double up on him, with the decision not to award a free-kick not received well by the home fans - but Newcastle's attack comes to nothing.

Regardless of whether Tammy Abraham was offside, or not, Newcastle United were caught napping after the visitors expected Morgan Rogers to shoot. Dan Burn did not look happy with his team-mates.

The replays look pretty conclusive that Tammy Abraham does go early - and that gives him the yard of space he needs to do the damage.

The Villa striker needs a bit of treatment on his foot but looks good to continue after briefly running off and then back on to the pitch.

One of Villa's strengths is they are comfortable playing out. Unai Emery insists that they do that, but if Newcastle get some early joy it will put doubt in their minds.

Newcastle are keeping Aston Villa penned in at the moment, hunting down the ball high up the pitch as Villa insist on attempting to play their way out of trouble. There's a really good tempo to this so far, lots of energy.
