"Come on you Baggies", is the cry from the away stand.

These West Brom fans haven't had a lot to cheer about recently, but they have been here throughout it all - with away ends sold out most times this season.

It is packed here in Oxford today.

Woeful from Pompey. A silly mistake at the back but also, why can't we get some to actually get on the end of the ball and score? We badly needed those three points.

Relegated Sheffield Wednesday have made four changes from the team that started the 2-0 reverse at Norwich in midweek.

Nathaniel Chalobah is back in midfield for just a fourth appearance of the season.

The Owls are looking to avoid becoming the first team in English Football League history to fail to win a single home game all season.

  7. Wright and Rudoni look to spoil Robins returnpublished at 14:57 GMT 28 February

    Coventry v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

Coventry striker Haji Wright warms upImage source, Shutterstock

Coventry have but their run of poor form firmly behind them and the league leaders could end the day 12 points clear of third place depending on how results elsewhere go.

Striker Haji Wright and midfielder Jack Rudoni have both come back into form at just the right time for Frank Lampard's men, who are looking for a fourth successive win this afternoon.

The man who brought both of those players to the Ricoh Arena is in the opposing dugout today.

Mark Robins spent seven years at the helm before being sacked in November 2024.

He says his injury-hit squad face a "brilliant challenge" as they look to claim a win that would give their ailing play-off push a shot in the arm.

  8. Time for Tractor Boys to acceleratepublished at 14:56 GMT 28 February

    Ipswich v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

For much of the season, it has seemed like Ipswich have been treading water in the Championship.

Replete with a stacked squad and the experience of promotion two years ago, it has always felt like the Tractor Boys are ready to go on a decisive run.

Well, lads, we're nearly at the end of winter and we're still waiting.

They had a run of four wins from December and January, but since then it is an inconsistent seven points from five games.

They suffered a bad loss at Wrexham seven days ago but recovered to win at Watford in midweek and now they face Swansea at Portman Road, trying to halve the six-point gap on second-placed Middlesbrough.

The Swans may be down in 15th, but eight points off the play-offs, the hope remains and belief would grow if they could claim a surprise success in Suffolk.

There'll be no Snoop Dogg following them to East Anglia, but can his good vibes go with them?

Oxford United v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

Game of the day? No arguments here.

Oxford United will seek to climb towards safety and drag West Bromwich Albion deeper into the mire when the two meet at the Kassam.

Albion go into the game a point clear of the drop-zone after Leicester's loss against Norwich, having been pegged back by Charlton to draw 1-1 at the Hawthorns on Tuesday, which ended Eric Ramsay's winless eight-match reign as head coach after just 44 days, though interim James Morrison says he is 'fully in' for the challenge.

The U's battled to a point at Middlesbrough last Saturday but a 2-1 defeat at Stoke on Wednesday left them six points adrift of the Baggies in 23rd and they have not scored a goal at home since Boxing Day, a run of six scoreless games in all competitions and their longest league drought of five games ever.

Matt Bloomfield's men are however unbeaten in their past five home league games against West Brom, taking 11 points, while the Baggies are winless in 13 on the travels, earning a measly two points.

This is one not to miss...

Sheffield Wednesday's season lurches on after a week which saw them relegated at their cross-city rivals, the proposed takeover fall through and them suffer a Championship-record 11th straight defeat.

The Owls, beaten 2-0 at Norwich on Wednesday, welcome in-form Southampton still looking for a first home win of the season.

It seems unlikely they'll get it today given the two sides' respective recent results.

The play-off chasing Saints have won four of their past five and hammered QPR 5-0 on Tuesday.

  11. Lions' top-flight dream edges closer into viewpublished at 14:52 GMT 28 February

    Preston v Millwall (15:00 GMT)

A meeting between two sides for whom Premier League football has proved elusive down the years.

But after contrasting starts to 2026, it was Millwall for whom the top-flights lights are shining a little brighter.

Win today and they will be just ONE point behind the automatic promotion spots as Alex Neil's men continue to defy predictions.

Always competitive at The Den, the Lions have won three of their last four on the road to steam into contention to chase down Coventry and Middlesbrough.

It is now one win in eight for North End as they have slipped down to 10th, five points outside the top six.

Performances have not been great for Paul Heckingbottom's side and they need a lift to change the narrative that their play-off push is fading by the week.

QPR and Sheffield United will seek to keep their fading play-off hopes alive when they meet in the capital.

The R's are 14th, two points and three places above the Blades, after following-up their fine win at Hull last Saturday with a humbling 5-0 reverse at Southampton on Tuesday night.

United are nine points behind sixth-placed Wrexham with a dozen games remaining after Sunday's Steel City derby win was followed by a 2-1 home defeat to leaders Coventry on Wednesday night.

Manager Chris Wilder is not giving up on their chances: "We're at the business end of the season. We understand where we want to be," he told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We've got to put a run together. We did it last season. If we want to get something out of season, we've got to go and attack the game [at QPR] and go and win it."

R's beware, Blades have taken 10 points from their past four visits to the R's and 21 in the past 10 meetings overall.

The word 'Charlton' sprayed in red white and black on a wall near the Valley Stadium

There’s a bit of buzz outside the ground for this fixture that sees two of last season’s promoted teams get reacquainted.

And if recent games are anything to go by, we could be in for some fireworks underneath some pretty gloomy south London skies.

Things got a little tense the last time Wrexham visited The Valley when the hosts were awarded a controversial penalty to equalise in the 97th minute, leaving manager Phil Parkinson seething.

Then there was Nathan Jones’ “circus” comments that added to the edge between the sides as they battled for a place in the Championship.

Both seemingly have different aims now, though, with the away end rapidly filling up with fans hoping their side can pull away from the pack chasing the top six. Moving further away from the bottom three very much the aim for the Addicks.

Phil Parkinson returns to former club Charlton as Wrexham bid to maintain their impressive away run which has them sitting in the play-off places.

The Red Dragons are unbeaten in their past five Championship matches on the road, taking 13 points.

"We've always had competitive games with Charlton over the last couple of years, both home and away," said Parkinson. "It's going to be a really good game.

"They had a dip after a very strong start and they've picked up again recently. Like all of Nathan Jones' teams, they're very hard-working, very organised and are showing all of the qualities you need to be a Championship team."

The Addicks have a seven-point cushion over the relegation zone but are winless in three games and have won just one of their past four at The Valley.

Hull's backs-to-the-wall win at Portsmouth moves them up two places above Ipswich and Millwall into third place.

The Tigers are now just three points behind Middlesbrough in second.

Derby jump five places from 12th to seventh with their comeback success over Blackburn while Norwich are now 16th and moving further clear of trouble after winning at Leicester.

But it will be an anxious few hours for the three losers towards the bottom as they wait to see what the full extent of their defeats is.

Norwich sub Anis Ben Slimane overcame a fitness test on his groin in the warm-up and came on to break the deadlock. He told Sky Sports:

"The lads put in a really good performance in the first half, we wanted to keep pushing in the second half and we knew there would be chances there.

"Warming up I was desperate to get on and make an impact.

"I had some problems with my groin but Big Phil [Clement] gets what he warns. I am super happy to be on the pitch to help the team to a great three points.

"[Clement] has done a really great job and everyone is really happy with him, we take it game by game and look forward to the next one."
