    Breaking

    Manby 3-0 Sevada

    Remember the name: Charlie Manby.

The young Yorkshireman has crushed Adam Sevada by nine legs to one, and is into the last 32 of the World Championships on his debut.

He threw nine 140-plus visits, and two maximums. Sevada never came close - 11 points behind in the averages, and he only got three goes at doubles.

Manby plays Ricky Evans in round three.

  5. When does the darts break for Christmas?published at 22:40 GMT 22 December 2025

There is a three-day Christmas break from 24 to 26 December.

After that point, there will be two sessions of play each day - except for another rest day on 31 December - but the matches in each session decrease in later rounds where there are fewer but longer matches.

    John Part
Former PDC world champion on Sky Sports

It was a pleasure to see someone doing what they can actually do at their best level. There's maybe an extra level above that, even, if he needs to go there.

The World Championship can be an intimidating place for just about anybody up on that stage and it's hard to get your best darts out there. It's really good to see Gian get that out there.

  7. Manby wins second setpublished at 22:30 GMT 22 December 2025

    Manby 2-0 Sevada

    Charlie ManbyImage source, PA Media

This is a statement performance from Charlie Manby - he has won all six legs so far, barely giving Adam Sevada a sniff.

Manby is well on course for a third round meeting with 'Rapid' Ricky Evans, who bested seventh seed James Wade in an absolute classic earlier today.

    Result: Van Veen 3-1 Soutar

Gian van Veen celebratesImage source, PA Media

Gian van Veen, speaking on stage to Sky Sports after his 3-1 win over Alan Soutar:

"If I can continue like this all tournament, I could go really far.

"Last week, I was just happy to win my first game and now I'm happy to survive [in the tournament past] Christmas.

"After Christmas I'll be back and I'm really looking forward to it."

It was professional from Nathan Aspinall, no drama and he didn't have to reach his highest levels.

This is the nervy game for me, the one before Christmas. You don't want to be out of the tournament going into Christmas.

He's done part one of the job now, he'll have to play better against Kevin Doets, but it was professional in both rounds and he'll be happy.

  10. Manby wins first setpublished at 22:17 GMT 22 December 2025

    Manby 1-0 Sevada

You may remember Charlie Manby as the man who beat Cameron Menzies in round one - sending Menzies into a table-punching fury.

Menzies, it should be noted, has since apologised to Manby both personally and publically for his outburst.

This match has been much more serene for the Yorkshire lad so far, winning the first set to zero.

  11. Postpublished at 22:15 GMT 22 December 2025

    Result: Aspinall 3-0 Gates

Nathan Aspinall, speaking to Sky Sports after his 3-0 win against Leonard Gates:

"I felt a lot better than my first game. Leonard is a lot better than that, I expected him to throw a bit more at me, but I'm here to do a job, I won 3-0 and I didn't really produce my best stuff.

    "A win's a win and I'm back after Christmas."

    On third-round opponent Kevin Doets:

"Kevin's a great player, I've not got a very good record against him and I think he knows that because he's been talking to me in the hotel.

"I'll enjoy Christmas with my family, come back and I'll put a show on for these guys [the crowd] because they deserve it."

    Manby v Sevada

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

Charlie Manby is a young player and he's just got to go at his own pace [to progress] but he's more than ahead of schedule. I fancy his chances tonight and even the round after as well. I think Charlie can have a good run here.

    Result: Humphries 3-0 Lim

More from Luke Humphries after his 3-0 win against Paul Lim:

"Against someone you really like and you're 6-0 up in legs, honestly it's hard because you don't want to destroy people all of the time. There are certain players that you want to, but others you don't and he's one that you don't.

"It was a game I had to win, that was the most important thing and I put myself in a good position after the first two sets.

"He's a legend, I love him to bits and I hope that's not the last time we see him on this stage - hopefully he comes back next year and keep him away from me and let him beat other people."

  14. Postpublished at 22:07 GMT 22 December 2025

Our second American of the night, Adam Sevada, is on stage to take on one of the brightest young sparks of British darts, Charlie Manby. There is a lot of buzz around the lad from Huddersfield.

We will bring you set by set updates, as we continue our reaction to Luke Humphries' dismantling of Paul Lim.

  15. Postpublished at 22:05 GMT 22 December 2025

    Result: Humphries 3-0 Lim

Luke Humphries, speaking to Sky Sports after a 3-0 win against Paul Lim:

"The first two sets, I knew I had to come out fighting because the crowd were going to be on his side.

"When I went 2-0 up, everything was going well. The third set wasn't as great but I didn't want to destroy him 9-0 [in legs], that wasn't really what I wanted to happen. I wanted to win 3-0 in sets but I'm glad he got a leg at the end there because he didn't deserve that [9-0 defeat].

"He played alright in the first two sets, I was just really clinical with my scoring and finishing.

"It's a pleasure to play him again, unfortunately I had business to do tonight. That was the most amazing atmosphere I've been a part of, when they were calling his name out."

  18. A PDC world champion from Asia?published at 21:57 GMT 22 December 2025

Mikuru Suzuki of Japan won the BDO women's world title in 2019 and 2020 but there is yet to be a male world darts champion.

Will there one day be an Asian winner of the PDC World Championship?

"In the next decade, I think so," said Paul Lim. "I reckon it's a matter of time.

"Once we can create, let's say 10,000 talented players, out of those you'll eventually find someone who's going to be really good at it. I think it's time."

    Humphries 3-0 Lim

A business-like win for Luke Humphries, although a below-par third set took his match average under 100.

He goes on to face Gabriel Clemens in round three.
