That was a one-sided affair from the offset, but a quick mention for James Hurrell. He showed resilience and fight but Ryan Searle is looking magnificent.

I am struggling to find many negatives in this Ryan Searle performance. He has been so composed.

It is proper darts from Ryan Searle.

Ryan Searle is dominating. He needs double four to move two legs away from the quarter-finals in yet another brilliant performance.

    Hurrell 0-2 Searle (1-1)

James Hurrell leaves 80 and almost falls over after his shoe gets stuck on the oche. Only slightly embarrassing for him but I'm sure everyone has moved on now as he bangs in tops for the leg.

Ryan Searle is so calm and in rhythm. The best way I can explain it is he could probably play this game with the lights off.

  20. Could this go the distance?published at 20:40 GMT 29 December 2025

There have been two matches at this year's World Championship that have needed a sudden-death leg to decide a winner.

Scotland's Alan Soutar, in round one, and England's Justin Hood, in round two, have both won at the last gasp.

If we get to a seventh and deciding set and that gets to 5-5 in legs, the winner of the 11th leg will go through to the fourth round.
