    Bunting v Hurrell

    John Part
Former PDC world champion on Sky Sports

This is the sort of test that could bring the best out of Stephen Bunting.

We've seen James Hurrell really play well and hitting a lot of 180s. Stephen will know he will have to be at it tonight, playing like the number four seed.

It's going to be a little rough for him at the start of the match, but if he gets flying, I think he'll be fine.

    Result: Harrysson 4-2 Pietreczko

    Mark Webster
Former BDO world champion on Sky Sports

What a tournament he's having. We've said that section of the draw has opened up - Harrysson opened it up himself when he took out the 12th seed Ross Smith.

    He looks unflappable.

He's got £60,000 in prize money and he's got to be pleased with his efforts. He'll pose more than a threat to Jonny Clayton in the next round.

It's what this tournament is about and particularly with the additional prize money, it can change your career and he's on the verge of doing that.

If Harrysson beats Clayton, it's likely he'll move into the top 64 of the PDC world rankings and therefore earn himself a card for the main tour.

  3. Five of the top 16 already outpublished at 20:40 GMT 27 December 2025

Onto the next two games - we have fourth seed Stephen Bunting up next, followed by top ranked Luke Littler.

The top players have not had the smoothest of times at the World Darts Championship so far - while you might expect the 16 highest seeds to all be in contention for the last 16, the reality is far from it.

Sixth seed Danny Noppert is the highest ranked player out so far, while only three matches in round three are all seeded affairs.

Here are the players in the top 16 who have exited:

    • Danny Noppert (6)
    • James Wade (7)
    • Chris Dobey (8)
    • Gerwyn Price (9)
    • Ross Smith (12)
  4. Munyua fulfils Chelsea dreampublished at 20:38 GMT 27 December 2025

David Munyua became one of the unlikely stars of this year's World Championship, beating former World Grand Prix champion Mike de Decker in round one before being knocked out in the second round just before Christmas.

The 30-year-old from Kenya, nicknamed "Why Not", works full-time as a vet and is also a massive Chelsea supporter.

He had never been outside Africa before competing at London's Alexandra Palace, and was a special guest at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's Premier League match against Aston Villa earlier today.

Sadly for Munyua, the Blues let slip a 1-0 lead and lost 2-1 to Villa.

We're not sure about that Andy, but there was definitely one darts star at the Chelsea game...

    Result: Harrysson 4-2 Pietreczko

Andreas Harrysson celebratesImage source, Getty Images

Sensational stuff from Andreas Harrysson, who was the better player on the night.

Making his debut on the world stage at age 50, and he's through to round four. He looked quite emotional after landing the winning dart, before deservedly taking in the Ally Pally adulation.

Harrysson faces fifth seed Jonny Clayton next.

    Harrysson 4-2 Pietreczko (3-1)

He's finally beaten his opponent at his own game, which is the finishing.

    Breaking

    Harrysson 4-2 Pietreczko (3-1)

Andreas Harrysson can seal it with the bull... way off. One match dart missed.

But Ricardo Pietreczko junks in 27, Harrysson has three at doubles - and lands the first!

The world number 114 is into the last 16!

  9. Postpublished at 20:30 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 3-2 Pietreczko (2-1)

Ricardo Pietreczko has the face of a desperate man. He can feel a big chance slipping away.

Can Harryson hold his nerve? A superb 140 visit means he needs a finish of 81 to triumph...

  10. Postpublished at 20:29 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 3-2 Pietreczko (2-1)

One area Andreas Harrysson has dominated here is in hitting trebles - he bangs in the eighth 180 of the match. Six for him, two for Pikachu.

Pietreczko still can't hit trebles, giving Harrysson a chance at 146 to break.

T19, T19... D16! By far his best checkout, and if the debutant holds throw here he is into the fourth round.

  11. Postpublished at 20:27 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 3-2 Pietreczko (1-1)

Andreas Harrysson has been much more consistent here, but has struggled to finish. Again here, he just misses out on 110 but is narrowly wrong side of D16.

However Pietreczko also can't finish this time, and Harrysson is able to hold.

    Harrysson 3-2 Pietreczko (0-1)

    Ricardo PietreczkoImage source, Getty Images

Ricardo Pietreczko looks very unhappy at some whistling from the crowd, which causes the referee to intervene and scold the crowd.

While that would be very annoying, it seems more likely Pietreczko is frustrated with his game. Certainly he has not played anywhere near his best tonight.

Pietreczko misses a 110 finish, giving Harrysson a chance at 76 - but his effort at D18 is narrowly the wrong side of the wire.

Pikachu cleans up, and gives a Roar to the camera. Or was it more of a Hyper Voice?

  13. Harrysson wins set fivepublished at 20:22 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 3-2 Pietreczko (3-0)

Ricardo Pietreczko just doesn't seem to fancy sets where he needs to break Andreas Harrysson. He's coming nowhere near triple figures with most of these visits.

Harrysson can take his time setting up for a 56 finish - and he gets it in rather unusual fashion.

After landing twice in single eight, he bangs in tops and is back ahead.

  14. Postpublished at 20:19 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 2-2 Pietreczko (2-0)

Ricardo Pietreczko is having another spell in this match where he can't hit T20 for love nor money.

He takes a trip around the board to try to seek his fortune, but comes back with a visit of 10 - single four, single one, single five - to those mocking cheers from the crowd that no darts player wants to hear.

Harrysson meanwhile has three at D10 - the first lands in the single, but the second to D5 is good.

  15. Postpublished at 20:16 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 2-2 Pietreczko (1-0)

Andreas Harrysson is aiming to be just the second player representing Sweden to reach the round of 16, after Jeffrey de Graaf last year.

He has the darts first in set five, and gets to a finish first - although he's not too happy as he sets up 76.

Finished up with tops, that was more clinical from Harrysson than we have seen through the majority of this match.

Rob Cross celebratesImage source, PA Media

While we haven't seen any nine-darters yet, we have seen plenty of 170 checkouts - the highest finish possible in darts.

Nicknamed the 'Big Fish', here are all the players who have nailed a 170 finish so far:

    • Rob Cross
    • Gabriel Clemens
    • Brendan Dolan
    • Dirk van Duijvenbode
    • Krzysztof Ratajski
    • Nathan Aspinall
    • Joe Cullen
    • James Wade
    • Gian van Veen

    Harrysson 2-2 Pietreczko (1-3)

    Ricardo PietreczkoImage source, PA Media

Ricardo Pietreczko has been wildly inconsistent here and is 9-7 down in total legs. But the two 100-plus finishes he has pulled from nowhere have kept him bang in this contest.

Can he reel in the Big Fish as he leaves 170? Not this time...

Harrysson requires 160, but doesn't get the right trebles. It lets Pikachu to land a Critical Hit and level up the match.

    Harrysson 2-1 Pietreczko (1-2)

    Dan Dawson
    Commentator on Sky Sports

That feels really important - don't get that double there and Harrysson is throwing for a 3-1 lead.

  20. Postpublished at 20:07 GMT 27 December 2025

    Harrysson 2-1 Pietreczko (1-2)

A fist pump from Pietreczko after a 171 visit, three in treble 19. But he can't get the big finish this time, short of 112.

Harrysson so nearly responds with a 161 checkout, but dips just short of bull. And Pietreczko slips into D9 to Spark his fans into life.
