    Humphries v Littler

The two Lukes, currently first and second in the world, have been speaking to Sky Sports before tonight's quarter-final...

Luke Humphries: "It's a massive game, if I win then I'll be edging closer to Michael [van Gerwen in fourth spot] and breathing down Gerwyn's neck a little bit. Obviously I'd love to go on and win the night because then I'm back into the top four and that's what I really need."

Luke Littler: "I'll be challenging every week to get that top spot. Jonny's not going to back away, he wants to keep that spot and with the form he's in, it's going to be tough. As long as I play my darts and get a few more wins, I'm sure I'll challenge for top spot again."

Luke Humphries still has work to do as he continues his search for a spot at finals night.

He is currently three points adrift of the play-off places and takes on world number one Luke Littler this evening.

Humphries, the defending champion, is yet to win a night this term.

Littler looks to be in a solid position and is second on 24 points.

Littler has to win tonight, otherwise he's going to slide....!

    Billy

Littler will stay second in the table whatever happens tonight, and he probably has just enough to points to reach the play-offs already, but you can be sure he'll be keen to show his best form with that finals night fast approaching.

    Humphries v Littler

    Wayne Mardle
Former World Matchplay finalist on Sky Sports

Luke Humphries has got all the pressure on his shoulders.

In a way now, it's not about performing, it's about points. Forget the performances, just get the points won, which is not that simple when you've only won seven matches in 11 weeks.

He's got to put it together somehow.

Michael van Gerwen will face a Luke in the final. But which one will it be?

Luke Humphries v Luke Littler is next up.

  6. Van Gerwen breaks to beat Rockpublished at 20:39 BST 23 April
    Breaking

    Rock 3-6 Van Gerwen

A 180 and a 140 in this leg mean Michael van Gerwen is first down to a finish and he ends up with double 16 remaining.

He misses two at it, the last of one throw and the first of the next, before pinning the double.

If Michael can somehow muster another nightly win, he'd go into third place.

And if it doesn't work out for Luke Humphries in the next game, even if he wins here, Michael would be five points clear of Luke. That's a lot in week 12 - there are only four more weeks after this.

  8. Van Gerwen holdspublished at 20:37 BST 23 April

    Rock 3-5 Van Gerwen

A 180 to kick off this leg from Michael van Gerwen, but he follows it up with 97 and 42.

He is still first down to a finish, though, with 62 left. He has a dart at double 16 but misses it.

Josh Rock requires 150, but can't find a treble.

Van Gerwen goes inside on double 16, then inside on double eight, then outside on double four. Four missed darts!

Rock hits treble 19, but misses double 18 and double nine.

Van Gerwen misses another at double four before finally checking it out.

That describes how inconsistent these two have been.

    Rock 3-4 Van Gerwen

Josh Rock keeps up the pressure!

He needs to break to have a chance of winning this.

Six perfect darts to kick off the leg for Josh Rock!

He steps up to the oche for his next throw... but his first hits the single 20.

Van Gerwen punishes him and takes out double 18.

  14. Van Gerwen holdspublished at 20:26 BST 23 April

    Rock 0-2 Van Gerwen

Three darts at singles as Michael van Gerwen searches for a ton-plus out doesn't help. Josh Rock does the same.

Van Gerwen then finds treble 17 to leave double 12, and once again only needs a single dart at the double.

After two weeks, Michael van Gerwen had eight points. He's doubled that tally in the next nine weeks.

That's how he's been performing and some of it has been really good, but mostly he's been inconsistent.

  16. Van Gerwen breakspublished at 20:24 BST 23 April

    Rock 0-1 Van Gerwen

Michael van Gerwen finds a 180 with his first three darts. He then gets another later in the leg.

I just walked past a very jubilant Jonny Clayton backstage, who even let out a little fist pump.

Stephen Bunting was following behind and he was talking about what went wrong for him tonight.

It's a game of very fine margins.

You don't have to look a long way back in this season's Premier League to remember when Josh Rock was still without a point.

He has since won his past four quarter-finals and will look to continue his push to get off the bottom of the table as he takes on Michael van Gerwen this evening.

Van Gerwen, who has won the Premier League seven times, is currently on double Rock's points tally.

The Dutchman is currently inside the play-off spots, but sat just three points above fifth-placed Luke Humphries at the start of play tonight.
