Fair play, Ben, plenty of people wouldn't have had the courage to put their name on that...

Fantastic effort from England to turn the South Africans into South African'ts!!

  3. dropped catch

Jones dropped on 31published at 12 overs

    Eng 55-0

Well, South Africa should have a wicket but it has been this kind of day for the Proteas.

Amy Jones is through the shot far too far and pops up a return catch for Masabata Klaas.

The bowler sticks out her right hand when she probably had time to go with two and the ball bounces out of her grasp and onto the deck.

    Shot!

Picked up superbly by Amy Jones. Back of a length and middled over mid-wicket for four.

    England are closing in.

It was just a matter of time before Amy Jones started striking. This game is very nearly done.

  6. Eng 48-0published at 11 overs

    This is more like it!

Amy Jones skips down the track and hammers the ball back over Nonkululeko Mlaba's head for four more.

    Nine from the over.

  7. Eng 43-0published at 10.1 overs

    Target 70

Driven square by Amy Jones, between the two fielders either side of point for four.

    Lovely shot.

  8. Eng 39-0published at 10 overs

    Target 70

Amy Jones shows a bit of attacking intent, aiming a couple of shots leg side.

The first gets past a half-hearted effort at mid-wicket and they run two. Five from the over in total, England need another 31 to win at the end of the powerplay.

  9. Eng 34-0published at 9 overs

    Target 70

Just a couple of leg byes from the over. Slow progress for England the past couple of overs but they're almost halfway to their target now.

  10. Eng 32-0published at 8 overs

    Target 70

Masabata Klaas replaces Chloe Tryon and it's a decent start from the medium-pacer.

Just a couple of singles from the over, although it takes some good fielding in the deep to prevent Tammy Beaumont finding the boundary with a crunching pull shot.

Nonkululeko Mlaba is going to bowl the next over.

  11. Eng 30-0published at 7 overs

    Target 70

Amy Jones is showing Marizanne Kapp plenty of respect, taking no chances just yet.

She hammers a straight drive but the bowler gets down to make the stop before a push into the covers denies Kapp a maiden.

Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones could have gone a bit harder but I can understand that they will want some time in the middle and to get used to the surface.

They could have been more aggressive, but the pitch is two-paced.

  13. Eng 29-0published at 6 overs

    Target 70

Too short from Chloe Tryon and Amy Jones goes back and thumps the ball to the left of mid-off.

The fielder gets a hand to it with an attempted diving stop but it's not enough to prevent the ball reaching the boundary.

All South Africa can do after this is wipe the slate clean and start all over again. There is not much that they can take from this performance.

A single to end the over, England are ticking along calmly enough.

The fact we're talking about when, not if, they will win tells you that this has been an extremely impressive start to the tournament for Charlotte Edwards' side.

Well outside the line. Tammy Beaumont survives an optimistic South Africa review.

Tammy Beaumont does not look that bothered by this.

South Africa need wickets so when Marizanne Kapp hits Tammy Beaumont on the front pad, they waste little time in calling for a review for lbw.

Beaumont doesn't seem too concerned. I think she got her pad outside the line.

  19. Eng 22-0published at 4.3 overs

    Target 70

At the current rate, England will have the game won in about 15 overs. Is that quick enough to be a statement?

England should be aiming to knock this off in about eight or nine overs. Make a statement.

Can you imagine if the boot was on the other foot, South Africa would be trying to smash us quickly.
