  1. new ball

Second new ballpublished at 11:50 BST 12 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 248-3

Jimmy Anderson is back on, takes a couple of deliveries to warm up and now takes the new ball with Martin Andersson in his sights.

Is there a sub Lancs could put in the slips called Anderson you wonder?

  2. Postpublished at 11:48 BST 12 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 383-4

Classy off-drive by Stephen Eskinazi, who just caresses a Matt Fisher delivery to the rope as he moves on to 20.

Eskinazi has looked assured so far, with Leicestershire continuing to eat away at that deficit. Just the nine runs for Rishi Patel, who remains unbeaten on 142 at the other end.

    Notinghamshire v Glamorgan 0-0 - Target 478

It's clearly cold at Trent Bridge. Umpire Richard Illingworth is well wrapped up again with a snood and what looks like several layers as he emerges for Glamorgan's run chase.

It'll be noisy soon as neighbours Nottingham Forest are in Premier League action this afternoon. The modern football phenomenon of a 'Fans Zone' means music will soon be blaring across the cricket ground.

Craig Overton and Jake Ball have made the early inroads Somerset had hoped for, so now it's time for Josh Shaw to have a go at dislodging these last four Essex batters.

Wiaan Mulder and Simon Harmer are holding them up for now, having nudged the home side to within 39 of making Somerset have another bat.

  5. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 11:40 BST 12 April

    Yorks 177 v Hants 251 & 119-3

More rain around and the two umpires have a little chat whilst casting glances at the dark clouds behind the Western Terrace.

George Hill whips off his jumper and they will continue but they get through one ball (a dot) and they are off.

  6. Declaration by Nottinghamshirepublished at 11:36 BST 12 April

    Nottinghamshire 279 & 311-9 dec v Glamorgan 113

After adding just 27 runs in half an hour this morning Nottinghamshire call time on their second innings.

Glamorgan will need a whopping 478 to win. Weather permitting they'll have a minimum of 180 overs to get them.

The highlight of the innings was Jack Clarke's 136 as, along with Ben Slater, he led a recovery from 8 for 2 after Ben Duckett had been run out.

The most successful bowler for Glamorgan was Andy Gorvin with 3 for 55 giving him five wickets in the match.

  7. Postpublished at 11:36 BST 12 April

    Middlesex 183 v Worcestershire 191 & 240-7

    Very much Worcestershire's half-hour at Lord's.

They have added 40 runs and crucially lost no wickets as they edge that advantage towards 250.

Good stuff from Gareth Roderick and Matthew Waite as they have put on 42.

  8. Back on at Old Traffordpublished at 11:34 BST 12 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 242-3

Paul Coughlin resumes his interrupted over half an hour after he started and over-pitches and is driven for four by Martin Andersson.

That won't improve the mood of a bowler who saw two chances go down off his bowling yesterday.

He finishes off with two singles of balls five and six. Harry Singh is on at the other end with five overs now until the second new ball.

    Pepper c Overton b Ball (Essex 151-6 v Somerset)

Craig Overton involved again, this time as the second slip fielder...

Jake Ball has bowled well this morning and gains some reward as Michael Pepper steers low to second slip, where Overton's reliable hands do the rest.

Four to go now. Simon Harmer is the new man at the crease for Essex.

  10. Gloucestershire following onpublished at 11:32 BST 12 April

    Glos 175 & 22-0 v Durham 605-5 dec

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Gloucestershire lasted all of 2.3 overs this morning before their first innings came to an end, with Ben Raine helping himself to a five-for in the process. His 16th.

He had Craig Miles caught at first slip off the first ball of the morning. He edged to Ben McKinney when on 22. And in his next over he brought the innnings to a close when he got Will Williams lbw for a duck.

The Gloucestershire innings lasted just 48.3 overs. They had been 168-8 overnight. Raine finished with 5-45.

Gloucestershire member Adrian Thomas keeps his own stat pack on the county. He informs me the total Durham made yesterday - 605-5 declared - was the highest against his side after a team had been put into bat.

And if they lose by an innings, it will the first time since 1914 they have lost three in a row in that manner.

  11. Postpublished at 11:31 BST 12 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 372-4

First target of the day ticked off for Leicestershire as Stephen Eskinazi tickles Matt Fisher around the corner for a couple to take the visitors beyond the follow-on target.

Now it's all about how close the Foxes can get to Surrey's total - or maybe even past it?

  12. Postpublished at 11:31 BST 12 April

    Yorks 177 v Hants 251 & 116-3

Jake Lehmann made what could well be a pivotal 92-ball 76 in Hants first innings and his presence at the crease for Hants now could have similarly significant impact.

With the lead already 190 and with a well-set Tom Prest (44 from 46 balls) at the other end, this session could be the one when Hants take the game away from their hosts.

  13. 300 runs

300 up for Nottspublished at 11:28 BST 12 April

    Nottinghamshire 279 & 303-9 v Glamorgan 113

They're not rushing but the champions have brought up the 300 in their second innings giving them a lead of 469 over Glamorgan.

It's the highest score of the match so far and the final wicket pair of Dillon Pennington and Fergus O'Neill have looked largely untroubled on the third morning.

  14. Second injury sub for Yorkspublished at 11:25 BST 12 April

    Yorks 177 v Hants 251 & 109-3

Logan Van Beek has been the pick of Yorks bowlers in the Hants second innings and has now taken 3-15.

And the home side have been forced to reach for a second sub overnight with Ben Cliff coming in for Jack White.

Not ideal for Yorks losing two bowlers.

But neither will miss another game under the eight-day rule given Yorks don't play again until 24 April when Sussex visit Headingley.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:25 BST 12 April

    Walter c & b Overton 70 (Essex 150-5 v Somerset)

Craig Overton strikes again! This is looking ominous for Essex...

Paul Walter, who's batted so well for his 70, tries to turn Overton away on the leg side and gets a leading edge to loop the ball tamely back into the bowler's hands.

Five down now and Essex still need 49 to avoid an innings defeat as Michael Pepper emerges from the dressing room.

  16. Postpublished at 11:25 BST 12 April

    Sussex 204 v Warwickshire 267 & 167-5

Fairly slow going at Hove so far. Rob Yates and Kai Smith are batting carefully for Warwickshire hoping to build a lead of over 300.

There's plenty of talk from the Sussex camp suggesting the Hove pitch gets easier as the match goes on so they may fancy their chances of chasing down a decent target.

  17. Postpublished at 11:20 BST 12 April

    Essex 149 & 150-4 v Somerset 348

Promising start for Wiaan Mulder, who pulls a short one from Craig Overton to the fence as Essex bring up the 150.

That's overtaken their first-innings total of 149, at any rate. They need an awful lot more, starting with 49 to make Somerset bat again.

  18. new ball

New ballpublished at 11:18 BST 12 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 361-4

The new cherry is raised by the umpire and handed to Matt Fisher, who concedes a couple of singles as Leicestershire edge closer to avoiding the follow-on.

They need nine more to ensure Surrey will be batting in the third innings of this game.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:18 BST 12 April

    Baker c Bess b van Beek 1 (Yorks 177 v Hants 251 & 106-3)

Logan van Beek has a third wicket and the nightwatchman Sonny Baker is gone.

Baker has not looked like he was going to stick around too long and he has fended this off his hips and got a leading edge which loops up on to the leg side.

Dom Bess sprints in from midwicket and slides to take a decent catch just off the cut strip.

  20. Slow going at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:17 BST 12 April

    Nottinghamshire 279 & 291-9 v Glamorgan 113

Nottinghamshire are batting on but not progressing the match much. Just seven runs added in the first 15 minutes of the day from Notts final wicket pair.

The lead is 457 and still nearly two days left but with some rain forecast later Glamorgan may not be too upset at having less time to bat out the game.
