    Surrey 520 v Leics 440-5

Tom Lawes and Reece Topley have renewed the Surrey attack after lunch as the visitors inch towards that fifth batting bonus point.

They've got three overs left in which to score 10 runs, while the loss of a wicket in that time would chalk up another bonus point for Surrey.

  2. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:45 BST 12 April

    Nottinghamshire v Glamorgan 83-1 - Target 478

It's chucking it down at Trent Bridge, so a delayed resumption after lunch.

With Glamorgan still needing a little under 400 runs and Nottinghamshire having to claim nine wickets they'll hope the weather relents.

  3. Postpublished at 13:45 BST 12 April

    Essex 149 & 231-8 v Somerset 348

A stoppage after just one over of the afternoon session, with Sam Cook attempting to hook Migael Pretorius and getting a whack on the helmet.

That, of course, requires a check - but it looks as though the Essex captain will be fine to continue as he and Shane Snater do their best to drag this out.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:44 BST 12 April

    De Caires lbw b Hannon-Dalby 17 (Middx 29-1 – Target 262)

Olly Hannon-Dalby nips one back and Josh de Caires is beaten for pace.

This is just the start to the afternoon session Worcs needed and they will be glad to see the back of de Caires given how well he started.

    Kent 141-9 v Northants 684-2 dec

Kent players not wearing spectacles but they are certainly making a spectacle of themselves except when the weather intervenes.

    Critique, Kent

As a lifelong Kent fan, surely some minor counties deserve a place in division 2 over this team, there’s been some truly shocking performances in the past 2 years.

    Lawrence, Canterbury

The general mood of Kent supporters is not a positive one, judging by the messages we are receiving.

  6. Hat-trick ballpublished at 13:35 BST 12 April

    Kent 135-9 v Northants 684-2 dec

Last man Keith Dudgeon gets everything behind it and blocks the ball to off.

Harry Conway is denied a hat-trick. It's the second week in a row he's taken two in two balls, though.

  7. Five-wicket haul for Harry Conwaypublished at 13:32 BST 12 April

    JK Denly b Conway 0 (Kent 135-9 v Northants 684-2 dec)

Harry Conway is on a hat-trick!!

Off-pole out of the ground, Jayden Denly trudging off, Kent on their knees.

Conway has fabulous figures of 5-35. That was a terrific ball to the left-hander, as it moves away from his middle and leg defence to bang into the stumps.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:30 BST 12 April

Evison lbw b Conway (Kent 135-8 v Northants 684-2 dec)

The 'Mad Badger' Harry Conway is celebrating wildly as he traps Joey Evison on his crease and it's another Kent wicket.

The Australian gets a hint of in-dip and while the batter looks unsure, that is out. Conway has 4-35.

  9. Snater and Cook delaying inevitablepublished at 13:27 BST 12 April

    Essex 149 & 231-8 v Somerset 348

    Victoria Polley
    BBC cricket commentator

Essex needed a partnership early on in the first session to give themselves any kind of chance in this match and losing one or two wickets, let alone five was always going to make the task even harder.

Shane Snater and Sam Cook have provided some resistance to get Essex a marginal lead but unless they can pull off something remarkable, it’s probably just delaying the inevitable.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:23 BST 12 April

    Singh c Bartlett b Conway 12 (Kent 130-7 v Northants 684-2 dec)

    Look away now Kent fans!

We have play in Canterbury and we have a Kent wicket!!

Harry Conway gets Jas Singh fending one into the slips, wher Georg Bartlett juggles it two or three times, probably because his hands are cold, before eventually holding on. Singh's shot was the sort you see the coach doing in the morning warm-up!

Northants up and running on day three. Kent's misery continues.

  11. 'Perfect morning' for Somerset at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:20 BST 12 April

    Essex 149 & 231-8 v Somerset 348

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Just about the perfect morning for Somerset as they picked up five Essex wickets, led from the front as ever by the mighty cricketer who is Craig Overton.

He made the initial breakthrough, having Matt Critchley caught in the slips and followed up by getting Paul Walter caught and bowled off a leading edge and then took a good slip catch to dismiss Michael Pepper.

Wiaan Mulder looked to be launching something of a rearguard action before top-edging a pull off Migael Pretorius, and when Josh Shaw pinned Simon Harmer lbw, Somerset could go into lunch knowing they were on the verge of a first Championship win of the season.

Famous spectacle wearers - Sir Clive Lloyd

    Paul, Newport

Spectacles - Eddie Barlow, Mike Smith and Geoff Boycott

    Steve Albert, Northampton

I seem to remember Daniel Vettori wearing specs when he played

    Sydney Dott, Fowey, Cornwall

Glasses Derek Aslett, Peter Roebuck, Devon Malcolm

    Dave Neville, London

Some fabulous names here! The likes of Sir Clive Lloyd and Sir Geoffrey Boycott, legends of the game!

Devon Malcolm was probably a bit of a Clark Kent - he took his glasses off and produced that amazing 9-57 at The Oval against South Africa!

  14. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:13 BST 12 April

    Lancs 351 v Derbys 274-4 (trail by 77 runs)

More rain and they will take the chance to take lunch earlier than had been planned at the end of a frustratingly interrupted session.

The rain was coming down but Mitch Stanley slipping slightly in his delivery stride may have hastened the decision

Martin Andersson is the only wicket to fall this morning – losing his off stump to a peach from Jimmy Anderson – but Brooke Guest is still going strong for the visitors on 77.

Luis Reece has looked less assured but he is new to the crease and walked into a decent spell from the Lancs skipper.

It has been a frustrating morning with two rain delays. Derbys trail by 77 runs and six wickets still up which would suggest this match is heading for stalemate.

Let's keep fingers crossed for fireworks this afternoon.

  15. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:05 BST 12 April

    Nottinghamshire v Glamorgan 83-1 - Target 478

Nottinghamshire will believe they're on course for their first win in defence of their title, but Glamorgan are making them work for it.

The champions 10th wicket pair occupied time at the crease in the morning session without adding many runs before the declaration.

Asa Tribe has seemed undaunted by the huge run chase playing positively and with authority to be 59 not out by the interval.

It took what could be the ball of the day anywhere from Josh Tongue, a vicious bouncer to Eddie Byrom, to give Notts their only wicket of the session.

  16. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:04 BST 12 April

    Sussex 204 v Warwickshire 267 & 249-8

A six followed by a four by Michael Booth off Henry Crocombe takes Warwickshire's lead beyond 300 by lunch in this fluctuating game.

Earlier Sussex appeared to be taking the initiative with three quick wickets, two of them taken by Ollie Robinson, including that of Chris Woakes.

But Booth, along with Jordan Thompson, has added 53 for the ninth wicket to swing the pendulum back again.

  17. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:04 BST 12 April

    Surrey 520 v Leics 434-5

Another good session for Leicestershire, who have added another 84 despite losing not-out batters Lewis Hill and Rishi Patel - the latter for 164.

The Foxes trail Surrey by just 86 at lunch.

  18. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:03 BST 12 April

    Middx 24-0 – Target 262

Tom Taylor gets one to leap off the strip and take the shoulder of Josh de Caires's bat but the ball falls safely short of point.

He completes the over without conceding a run... and that is lunch.

Middx need another 238 runs for the win which means we are going to get a result one way or the other you would think.

Which way is anybody's guess after a lively opening exchange in the chase.

  19. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 13:03 BST 12 April

    Glos 175 & 77-0 v Durham 605-5 dec

The players return, one run is added, the rain returns and it is now time for some food in Bristol.

Durham will have been delighted to wrap up Gloucestershire's first innings in 15 balls as Ben Raine took both remaining wickets to collect 5-45.

But some decent resistance from Cameon Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth in the subsequent 20 overs concludes the home side's best session of the game by some distance.

  20. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:02 BST 12 April

    Essex 149 & 231-8 v Somerset 348

Sam Cook pulls Josh Shaw through midwicket and runs three as Essex extend their lead to 32 in the final over before lunch.

Cook, with 13 and Shane Snater, who has 18, have held Somerset up with their partnership of 28 so far - but it feels as though it may just be a case of delaying the inevitable.

Two early wickets for Craig Overton, followed by one apiece for Jake Ball, Migael Pretorius and Shaw, mean Somerset are on the verge of a resounding win.
