That was a very strange area to have a fielder, to be honest. You would usually expect the fielder to be at square leg but that time he was at deep mid-wicket. He was standing there for that particular shot from Sanju Samson.

He will be so frustrated. He will be breaking a few things inside the dressing room because he was timing his shots as good as anybody else. He was looking a million dollars before that hit.

Sanju Samson's explosive start, however, only lasts eight balls.

He follows up his consecutive sixes with another well-timed boundary but then departs by holing out to Louren Steenkamp at deep mid-wicket with a half-hearted shot.

It brings Tilak Varma to the crease.

This looks a fantastic pitch to bat on. The ball is coming on to the bat and there is a lovely bounce.

As a batter, bounce is very important because then you can just hit through the line and the ball carries a long way as well.

There is so much batting in this line-up. The power hitters are just one after the other for India.

Sanju Samson is off to a flyer!

He clears the rope again not once but twice through the leg side - pure timing.

Samson has got so much potential and so much talent. That's the ability he's got - that was effortless.

It was a good over from Ruben Trumpelmann until Sanju Samson goes after his final delivery.

The India batter stands and delivers, launching the Namibia seamer over long-off and into the stands for the first maximum of the innings.

This is a decent start from Ruben Trumpelmann for Namibia.

Sanju Samson looks to drive him but misses before he also strikes the pad of the Indian opener, but it seems to have taken a nick off his bat prior.

I'm glad they've given Ruben Trumpelmann the new ball because he can swing the ball early on - he was used in the middle overs in Namibia's first match.

  9. Ind 1-0published at 0.1 overs

Ruben Trumpelmann opens the bowling for Namibia.

And he begins with a wide that Ishan Kishan reaches for with his bat but leaves late.

Sanju Samson has got a lot of supporters and a lot of detractors. He's got big support in Kerala, where he's from. He's never quite kicked on.

Ishan Kishan made his comeback into India's T20 squad by dislodging Sanju Samson from the starting line-up.

But both the wicketkeepers will open the batting for India here, with Samson taking the place of Abhishek Sharma, who misses out with illness.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav led from the front last time with an unbeaten 84 from 49 balls as he helped India escape an almighty scare against the United States in Mumbai.

But the script has been wiped clean, so who could emerge as India's hero today?

We will be finding out soon as a capacity crowd in Delhi has just welcomed both sets of players onto the field for the national anthems.

India will be hoping for a quicker pitch here in Delhi because it suits their attacking game much more.

  16. Team news - Two changes for both sidespublished at 13:23 GMT 12 February

Abhishek Sharma was taken to the hospital for a stomach bug and was only discharged yesterday, so Sanju Samson takes his place as India's opener. Jasprit Bumrah, however, has recovered from an illness that kept him out of the opener and replaced Mohammed Siraj in the bowling line-up.

There are two changes for Namibia too from their seven-wicket defeat to the Netherlands. Ben Shikongo and Malan Kruger come in as Dylan Leicher and Willem Myburgh drop out.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav: "We were looking to bat first, so very happy with [Namibia deciding to bowl]. As far as we are losing the toss and winning the game, that's fine.

"It's a big tournament. The dew is going to be a big factor. But when you bat first and go out to defend, it gives us a lot of confidence.

"Abhishek [Sharma] is still not fit. He will take a game or two. Sanju [Samson] comes in for him - similar batter, explosive. [Jasprit] Bumrah also comes in for [Mohammed] Siraj."

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus: "It's a very good, flat surface. From stats and a dew point of view, we think it's the right thing to do.

"We didn't hit the straps last game and we need to get some good partnerships with the bat as it looks like a very good wicket.

"We play to entertain our fans and I haven't seen many more fans in our stadiums than this. It's lovely to play in India."
