Good skills on display from Abhishek Sharma. Even deliveries with a lesser pace, he gets them over the boundary.

That's what you need from a batter.

It's a pretty 'bang bang' approach from Abhishek Sharma right now too, Prakash. He takes Brad Evans for six - his second of the innings and his fourth boundary.

Ishan Kishan gives license to himself when he walks out to bat. He goes bang bang straight from the off.

You need someone who plays fearless cricket with a bit of purpose as well.

  4. Ind 51-1published at 4.1 overs

Ishan Kishan picks a gap in the leg-side and comes back for two runs. 50 up for India.

It's a good over from Blessing Muzarabani, bringing the wicket of Sanju Samson and just three singles. He has 1-13 from his two overs.

Another bowling change for Zimbabwe. Brad Evans enters the attack.

A much-needed break for Zimbabwe. Sanju Samson was trying to play a pull shot but did not get hold of it.

He will be disappointed - he always gets caught out in the deep.

Pace off from Blessing Muzarabani and Sanju Samson picks out Ryan Burl in the deep. He departs for a breezy 24 (15).

Muzarabani punches both fists in celebration.

  9. Ind 46-0published at 3 overs

It's an over to forget for Tinotenda Maposa, finished with a big six into the leg-side from Abhishek Sharma. He read that slower ball.

Nine balls, 23 runs from it, four boundaries, two wides, one no ball.

    Sanju Samon has 23 (13), Sharma has 16 (6).

Is the occasion getting to Zimbabwe? The pressure is certainly getting to the young bowler Tinotenda Maposa.

  11. Ind 34-0published at 2.2 overs

It's overpitched from Tinotenda Maposa and Abhishek Sharma sends it through the covers for a confidence-boosting four.

To make things worse for Zimbabwe, the umpire signals a no ball.

Maposa follows it up with a wide. And another. The umpire is at risk of a repetitive strain injury from doing the free hit finger again and again.

Maposa gets a hug from his captain before being smacked down the ground for four. He's still got four balls to go in this over.

Abhishek Sharma needs to be off strike for a while as he has not been in great form. He needs to ease into getting his rhythm back.

A much needed start for India.

10 runs off the second over and India are 23-0. Sanju Samson already has 18 (11).

Abhishek Sharma has only faced one ball so far but he'll be on strike for the third over, bowled by Tinotenda Maposa.

    Another six for Sanju Samson!

Blessing Muzarabani's fourth delivery of the match sits up nicely and Samson goes big over mid-on.

  15. Ind 13-0published at 1 over

The first half of Richard Ngarava's opening over is messy, featuring a six and four leg-byes.

The second, bringing just three runs, is better. Sanju Samson narrowly avoided pulling the penultimate ball to mic-wicket.

  16. 6 runs

    Ind 6-0published at 0.2 overs

The second ball of the match is banged down the ground for six by Sanju Samson.

Not a bad way to mark your return to the side.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, whose inclusion was greeted with a huge cheer by the Chennai crowd, are out in the middle for India.

Richard Ngarava will open the bowling for Zimbabwe, who have opted for a pace-heavy attack. Away we go.

It's two sides hoping to bounce back from heavy defeats who meet in Chennai.

India were bowled out for 111 in a 76-run defeat to South Africa on Sunday while Zimbabwe were hammered by 107 runs by West Indies, who piled on a monster 254-6.

India, the defending champions and tournament hosts, won all four of their matches in the group stage, beating Pakistan, USA, Netherlands and Namibia.

Zimbabwe were the surprise table-toppers in Group B, beating Oman, Australia, and Sri Lanka. Their meeting with Ireland was washed out.

India have won 10 of the 13 men's T20I meetings between the two sides, including each of the past four.
