I would have put Ryan Burl in at three to keep the left-hand, right-hand combination. This match-up is too similar so it is hard to see what the thoughts were in the dressing room to bring in Dion Myers.

Well that was an important breakthrough for India.

They remove the threat of Tadiwanashe Marumani for just 20 runs. The first step in their punt for a big victory at Chidambaram Stadium.

Dion Myers comes into strike at three.

Tadiwanashe Marumani goes and Zimbabwe are up and about!

It was going to be a difficult task for Tadiwanashe Marumani. He loves his sweep and reverse sweeps shots but that is difficult against Axar Patel.

He had to change his game and try something else but he goes on that occasion.

    Marumani c Kishan b Patel 20 (Zim 44-1)

Axar Patel and Ishan Kishan strike back on behalf of Rinku Singh!

They combine to remove Tadiwanashe Marumani after the left-hander attempted an ambitious shot towards deep backward point, but there were enough fielders around to take the catch.

Uh oh! Rinku Singh fumbles a decent opportunity to dismiss big-hitter Tadiwanashe Marumani.

He lofts one up high towards deep mid-wicket but the fielder just couldn't control it in his hands while tracking back.

An absolute lifeline for Zimbabwe. They end the powerplay 44-0 after taking 11 runs off Varun Chakravarthy.

    Zim 33-0published at 5.1 overs

It's a six for Tadiwanashe Marumani off Varun Chakravarthy's opening delivery!

The left-hander reverse sweeps one over the boundary rope at deep backward point.

    That's the ticket.

Zimbabwe might not be losing wickets, but they're certainly losing ground.

A lovely shot from Brian Bennett. It just shows that if you keep your shots controlled and your eye on the ball, you will get value for your shots.

To hit Jasprit Bumrah over his head shows class.

  10. Zim 33-0published at 5 overs

Actually, Brian Bennett manages to find a way past Jasprit Bumrah not once but twice.

He lofts a shot towards the deep square leg boundary for a four off Bumrah's second delivery, then backs it up with a hit down the ground for another four off Bumrah's fifth delivery.

A tidy eight runs from what could've been a tricky over.

Zimbabwe are being asked really difficult questions and they don't have lot of time to come up with the answers.

The run-rate is continuing to creep up as well.

  12. Zim 25-0published at 4 overs

Just six runs come off Hardik Pandya's latest over. He is 0-12 after 12 deliveries in this important Super 8s contest.

India's bowlers are doing everything they can to keep things tight during this powerplay, but Zimbabwe need to kick on sooner rather than later.

    Here comes dangerman Jasprit Bumrah...

Tadiwanashe Marumani has missed quite a few shots - you cannot score runs if you don't get bat on ball.

Every run is crucial when you are chasing such a big total.

  14. Zim 19-0published at 3 overs

Brian Bennett finds a gap at deep extra cover to seal a four off the final delivery of the over.

Tadiwanashe Marumani is also doing his best to attack these deliveries, but Arshdeep Singh's variation of length is proving tricky to predict.

Tadiwanashe Marumani enjoys going after the ball and loves playing square of the wicket. That six was a bit of a top-edge but a boundary and Zimbabwe are going to need lots of those.

Hardik Pandya is no rookie with the ball though.

He tightens things up on his next five deliveries and limits Zimbabwe to five dot balls.

Zimbabwe are still 10-0 and Arshdeep Singh steps up to bowl his second over of the innings.

    Zim 10-0published at 1.1 overs

Tadiwanashe Marumani hits Hardik Pandya's opening delivery for six!

It is a clever flick behind the stumps from the left-hander, and it cruises over the fine leg boundary.

That'll give the opening pair a lift!

  18. Zim 4-0published at 1 overs

An impressive opening over from India's swing bowler Arshdeep Singh. Zimbabwe only manage a couple of singles and a two off his first six deliveries.

They need to get their power-hitting in order to start making a dent in this chase during the powerplay though. Otherwise, it the required run-rate will continue to escape them.

Today's been great if you're a South Africa or India fan but as a neutral it's been a bit of a damp squib. The first game was over by the midpoint of the second innings and this one looks like it's already over halfway through the first!

Right then, Zimbabwe know what they need to do.

They need to chase 257 runs to take victory at Chidambaram Stadium. It is a huge mountain to climb, but it would wrong to count them out just yet.

Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani start in the middle. They kick things off with a simple single.
