I feel like this partnership between Capsey and Sciver-Brunt is going to have to be key.

They will have to bat until lunch, otherwise if England lose another wicket in the next half hour, I don't see how they will get back into the game.

What a time for cricket to have two great women's teams playing at Lord's.

    Pete, Preston

  3. Eng 38-3published at 15 overs

Alice Capsey immediately gets off the mark with a boundary, steering the ball off her legs and fine for four.

In fact all of the runs conceded by Sayali Satghare are in that region, despite India packing it with fielders. Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt exchange singles.

Six from it, plus the wicket of Heather Knight.

That is so out. It will be 32 for 3. The ball felt like it stayed low. I think because of the 'crab-like' shot she played it felt like it stayed low.

Knight will feel hard done by there because the ball was just clipping the leg stump.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.1 overs

    Knight lbw b Satghare 6 (Eng 32-3)

Clipping leg stump! A lot closer than it looked in real time.

Heather Knight, a tad miffed, tucks her bat under her arm and departs for 6 (25).

    Two wickets in quick succession.

Heather Knight has been given out lbw, the ball smacking into her just above her knee roll.

She has a chat with Nat Sciver-Brunt and sends it upstairs.

    Looked out to me.

  7. Eng 32-2published at 14 overs

A wicket maiden for Kranti Gaud.

Prior to the Maia Bouchier's departure, Shafali Verma, floppy hat on, was a very animated figure in the slips, clapping away and swinging her arms. I imagine she's even happier now.

She tried to cut it but it was just far too close to her, a weak dismissal there and we have seen a few in this Test but I think that is due to the lack of Test cricket.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.4 overs

    Bouchier c Bhatia b Gaud 23 (Eng 32-2)

Kranti Gaud strikes with her fourth ball of day two!

Maia Bouchier, playing needlessly at a wide delivery, gets a tickle of an edge and it's safely pouched by Yastika Bhatia behind the stumps.

She looks disappointed. Out walks captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.

  10. Eng 32-1published at 13 overs

Maia Bouchier drives Sayali Satghare nicely through mid-off for four for her first boundary of the morning and darts through for a single off the final ball to keep the strike.

    Lord's is bathed in sunshine.

What a time for women's sport, my daughter Mandy has set up her cricket gear in the garden, inspired by the women at Lord's! Come on team!

    Melvin, West Buckinghamshire

  12. Eng 27-1published at 12 overs

Heather Knight and Maia Bouchier exchange singles either side of a dot ball to finish the opening over of the day.

Sree Charani, with a fielder under a helmet at silly point, got her penultimate delivery to turn a bit.

It is a strange one because if I feel like if Maia Bouchier goes back to Hampshire and scores more runs then that might have more credit for her getting selected for white-ball.

If she gets 200 runs here that obviously is going to come into play in further selection but what they are looking for is success domestically.

  14. Eng 25-1published at 11.1 overs

And we're up and running on day two, Heather Knight picking a gap in the covers and dispatching Sree Charani for four.

  15. Postpublished at 11:00 BST 11 July

The players are out in the middle.

England will resume on 21-1 after 11 overs, trailing India by 264 runs.

Maia Boucher is unbeaten on 17 (40), former captain Heather Knight has 1 (20).

It should be the best day for batting today. The grass has died off a little bit but the pitch may take a little bit of turn today.

It should be a perfect day for batting.

Ecclestone finishes with figures of 3-68 as India are bowled out for 285

An historic day at Lord's was made extra special for bowler Sophie Ecclestone as she became England's leading wicket-taker across all formats.

The 27-year-old returned figures of 3-68 on day one to take her tally to 338 wickets - three clear of fiery fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt.

She also moved third on the all-time list behind India's Deepti Sharma, also playing in this match, and her compatriot Jhulan Goswami.
