    Essex 327-8 v Leics

Ben Mike edges Jamie Porter to second slip - but agonisingly for the Essex seamer it lands millimetres in front of the fielder's fingers.

Mike then drives straight back down the ground and the umpire takes a tumble as he loses his balance in trying to avoid the ball hitting him.

  2. Back underway at Southamptonpublished at 18:02 BST 15 May

    Hampshire 128-6 v Notts

The sun is out in Southampton! After a long delay, we are back playing for what is left of the first day between Hants and Notts.

  3. Postpublished at 17:58 BST 15 May

    Somerset 333-5 v Sussex

Two overs left in the day here.

Tom Clark bowls to Craig Overton - who misses an attempted pull and bottom edges the ball into the off side. Actually, he may have gloved that into the turf.

He plays and misses the third ball outside off, trying to cut - but connects with the fourth ball, scooping to deep square leg for one.

Tom Abell leaves the last ball outside off.

  4. Postpublished at 17:56 BST 15 May

    Lancs 15-0 v Worcs 270

A cautious start to the innings it's fair to say for Lancashire.

Off seven overs, Lancs have reached 15-0 with Keaton Jennings (7*) and George Balderson (8*) leaving alone anything outside off stump with the sun lowering in Southport.

Four overs remaining in the day.

  5. Postpublished at 17:54 BST 15 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 65-2

Naavya Sharma is into the attack now for Middlesex following his England Lions call-up earlier in the day.

There are still 21 overs left at Lord's, plenty of time for Middlesex to add another couple of wickets or three, which would make this day seem a whole lot better.

  6. Postpublished at 17:53 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 7-0

Procter is off the mark with his ninth ball with a flick to fine leg off Gabe Bell for one.

Ricardo Vasconcelos drives to mid off and runs a tight single to move on to six. He is quick and he needed to be.

    Bell-Drummond c McKinney b Raine 1 (Kent 368-4 v Durham)

Three wickets for four runs at Beckenham

Daniel Bell-Drummond edges into his pads and the ball flies to Ben McKinney at gully, who takes his second catch in just a few minutes.

"Durham have got them right where they want them now," jokes BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson.

  8. wicket

    van der Gugten c Yates b Bamber 4 (Glamorgan 300-8 v Warwickshire)

Just as Glamorgan secure their second batting bonus point, they lose another wicket - that is the fourth wicket since the new ball was taken a little over four overs ago.

Ethan Bamber has a third wicket after he snares Timm van der Gugten. Rob Yates in the slips has another catch.

Which each passing wicket, the partnership of Ben Kellaway and Kiran Carlson is proving to be more invaluable.

  9. Postpublished at 17:50 BST 15 May

    Somerset 329-5 v Sussex

A full toss from Tom Clark but Craig Overton can't quite get the ball away between mid wicket and mid on.

He scoops the fifth ball to long on for one.

Four to Tom Abell, driving just out of the reach of Dan Hughes down the ground.

    Yorkshire 331-4 v Surrey

There it is - a first hundred as captain for Yorkshire's Jonny Bairstow!

And what a way to do it. Bairstow hits two boundaries which are carbon copies of each other backward of square into the off side.

15 fours and one six for Bairstow who came to the crease with Yorkshire in a bit of trouble but that has long since passed.

He has turned this game on its head, alongside Adam Lyth, who is still going himself on 129 not out.

  11. Postpublished at 17:47 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 4-0

Ricardo Vasconcelos gets one off the last ball of the Gabe Bell opening over.

He runs hard to pick up three runs off Will Williams driving through extra cover - and now Williams bowl round the wicket to Luke Procter.

Procter turns the sixth ball into the leg side where it is blocked at square leg.

    Muyeye c Aldridge b Potts 1 (Kent 367-3 v Durham)

The old bus moan (...you wait all day for one etc etc.....) holds firm as Durham pick up a second wicket in quick succession.

Twanda Muyeye waited for most of the day for his chance to bat and his innings lasts just seven balls as he edges Matthew Potts to slip.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is next man to the middle as Kent resist the idea of a nightwatchman with eight overs left after this one.

  13. Postpublished at 17:43 BST 15 May

    Somerset 322-5 v Sussex

Single to Tom Abell and another boundary from Craig Overton, albeit a slightly streaky steer wide of the slips to deep third.

A more convincing four runs for Overton, driving down the ground.

Ollie Robinson is back on the field after a brief absence.

  14. wicket

    Cooke LBW b Hannon-Dalby 3 (Glamorgan 294-7 v Warwickshire)

What a turn of events at Edgbaston! Chris Cooke leaves a straight one when facing Olly Hannon-Dalby and leaves a straightforward decision for the umpire, amid the appeals.

Suddenly, with around 12 overs remaining in the day, Warwickshire are looking to wrap up Glamorgan's innings. Mason Crane has joined Tim van der Gugten at the crease.

  15. Northants begin their first innings at Bristolpublished at 17:40 BST 15 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 0-0

Northants captain Luke Procter opens the innings with Ricardo Vasconcelos - both left-handers.

Vasconelos to face Bell. A theoretical 25 overs left in the day - but only if weather and light will permit.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:40 BST 15 May

    Eskinazi b Cook 50 (Essex v Leics 311-8)

The new ball works for Sam Cook, who beats a rather airy drive by Stevie Eskinazi and hits the top of off stump. That's his second success of the day, but it's been a long time since Rishi Patel was caught behind in the fourth over the match.

  17. 200 runs

200 partnership for Yorkshirepublished at 17:39 BST 15 May

    Yorkshire 321-4 v Surrey

A shorter delivery is pulled away for a couple as Jonny Bairstow moves into the nineties.

The following delivery sees Bairstow attempt a huge hoick over long off and catches the inside edge but somehow avoids his off stump and goes down to four at deep fine leg.

That brings up the 200 partnership between Bairstow and Adam Lyth - a superb effort from the pair - which is greeted by huge applause from the Headingley crowd.

  18. Postpublished at 17:37 BST 15 May

    Somerset 313-5 v Sussex

A single to Tom Abell, working Tom Clark to backward point.

Craig Overton defends into the on side.

Ollie Robinson is currently not on the field. Sussex and England will hope it is not for anything serious.

Overton latches on to a full ball and thumps it through cover for four.

  19. 50 runs

for Stevie Eskinazipublished at 17:35 BST 15 May

    Essex v Leics 311-7

New ball at Chelmsford, Jamie Porter has it, and Stevie Eskinazi pushes a single to cover and reaches 50 off 96 balls.

It's the fifth time he has done so this season and two of the previous four were converted into hundreds.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:34 BST 15 May

    Kellaway c Yates b Hannon-Dalby 139 (Glamorgan 291-6 v Warwickshire)

A magnificent knock comes to an end.

Warwickshire's opening bowlers have book-ended the day by taking a wicket apiece with both new balls. This one, from Olly Hannon-Dalby, is a very good delivery which Ben Kellaway can only help to Rob Yates at slip.

Warwickshire will be enthused by the fortunes afforded by the new ball after a day largely of toil. It is a pity for Kellaway, who would have been eyeing a stay at the crease which extended into tomorrow.
