  1. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:07 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 193-6

    Welcome back, Liam Guthrie.

The Northants bowler returns for his first over after lunch and sees the second ball dispatched for six.

Zafar Gohar frees his arms and uppercuts a widish delivery which smacks full into the boundary hoarding.

A couple of twos and the Middlesex batter has raced to 19 off 22 balls.

  2. 'They have ripped through Gloucs middle order'published at 15:05 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 124-6 v Lancs

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

It has ripped through Gloucestershire's middle order in a position from strength at 80-2 before the lunch break, having seen off the new ball.

    Balderson's been accurate.

You wouldn't say there have been a number of rash shots but we're seeing a lot of the same sort of dismissals from Gloucestershire in the early season. They've yet to score an innings higher than 216 which was their first innings of the season.

There are a few noticeable running themes, the primary one especially being the weakness against the right-arm seam of right-handers having the ball coming back into them.

  3. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:03 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 185-6

It seems incredibly harsh to label this as a drop - it would've been an absolute worldie.

Joe Cracknell flashes hard at HarryConway and gets the thickest of outside edges.

Calvin Harrison takes off at third slip and so nearly gets to it but it deflects off his outstretched right hand and down for a third boundary of the over.

Conway has today overtaken one Sir James Anderson as Division Two's leading wicket-taker this season, with 15.

We'd all dine out on that I reckon.

  4. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:59 BST 17 April

    Hants 192-8 v Somerset

Even better from Eddie Jack this time.

He hits through the line and absolutely nails this for six glorious runs over long on.

The second maximum which Jack Leach has conceded so far today.

Hampshire's tail is wagging a little here.

  5. Postpublished at 14:58 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 178-6

Harry Conway continues and his first ball is squeezed down to the fine third-man boundary rope with the aid of a thick outside edge from Zafar Gohar.

Joe Cracknell then repeats the trick off Conway, prompting a few oohs, aahs and maybes from the Northants slip cordon.

  6. Postpublished at 14:57 BST 17 April

    Hants 185-8 v Somerset

Eddie Jack flashes at one on the up for his first boundary of his innings through the off side.

    A good shot for a number 10.

  7. Postpublished at 14:55 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 169-6

Zafar Gohar gets off the mark to his sixth ball with a couple off Calvin Harrison and then pushes a single into the legside.

    Four from the over.

How Middlesex could do with a little counter-attack from he and Joe Cracknell. It's worth remembering that they won the toss and opted to take first use of the surface.

  8. 'Hants are a batter short'published at 14:53 BST 17 April

    Hants 178-8 v Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

For me Hampshire are another batter short either in the top side or in the middle order to help someone like Lehmann out.

  9. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Bristolpublished at 14:48 BST 17 April

    Gloucs 124-6 v Lancs

Bit of a blow for Lancashire as they were on a roll.

Rain has stopped play at Bristol at the end of the 44th over just as Jimmy Anderson was limbering up for a second spell.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:44 BST 17 April

    Higgins c Zaib b Harrison 14 (Northants v Middlesex 164-6)

An odd dismissal as Middlesex lose their sixth wicket.

All-rounder Ryan Higgins takes a step down the wicket and looks to drive a full ball from Calvin Harrison.

It looks horrible though, as he toe ends it straight to Saif Zaib at mid-on to end a knock that never really got going.

    Zafar Gohar joins Joe Cracknell.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:43 BST 17 April

    Abbott c J Rew b Gregory 25 (Hants 169-8 v Somerset)

And that just like that, Hampshire's eighth-wicket partnership has come to an end!

Kyle Abbott looks to flick one down to fine leg but instead is strangled down the leg side and James Rew takes his third catch behind the wicket.

A 43-run partnership comes to an end and Lewis Gregory grabs his third victim of the day.

  12. 'Disappointing Leach'published at 14:42 BST 17 April

    Hants 169-7 Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

Jack Leach is the one for me who's been a little bit disappointing. He just looks a bit short of rhythm, short of confidence after being struck by Tom Prest who really took him on. He hasn't really looked the Jack Leach of old.

  13. Postpublished at 14:42 BST 17 April

    Hants 169-7 Somerset

    Dan George
    BBC Sport at Utilita Bowl

There's 50 for Jake Lehmann, another classy knock so far by the Australian.

He's been brilliant with the bat in his first two matches for Hampshire and that has continued into this game.

His best scores so far came in the last game against Yorkshire with a 76 and 92, let's see if he can get within that range of runs today.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Jake Lehmannpublished at 14:37 BST 17 April

    Hants 163-7 v Somerset

A crucial 50 from Hampshire's Jake Lehmann who has provided some much needed steel to his side's innings when he has seen partners come and go to and from the pavilion.

His eight-wicket partnership with Kyle Abbott (24 not out) has come when the hosts have needed it most.

  15. Postpublished at 14:36 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 158-5

Pace has been king on a quick pitch, but with the skies getting a little gloomy and the floodlights on, it's time for a bit of spin.

Calvin Harrison turns his arn over for the first time today.

New batter Joe Cracknell pounces on a bit of width and sends it away through gully for his first boundary. Six from the over.

  16. 'Interesting Overton line of attack'published at 14:34 BST 17 April

    Hants 161-7 Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

This line of attack is interesting in itself from Craig Overton. He's the one bowler who's had the ball consistently shaping.

Why opt to go around the wicket straight away to left-handed Lehmann? Why not over use your angle to bring the ball back onto the stumps for LBs?

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:30 BST 17 April

    van Buuren c Jennings b Coughlin 0 (Gloucs 108-6 v Lancs)

What a spell after lunch it's been for Lancashire!

Graeme van Buuren goes without troubling the scorer and Gloucestershire are six down now.

It's a good delivery by Paul Coughlin, who grabs his first wicket of the match, getting van Buuren to push at one to Keaton Jennings at second slip who makes a routine catch.

    Gloucestershire are collapsing here.

  18. 'Splendid Walter catch'published at 14:27 BST 17 April

    Warks 113-7 Essex

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

He dropped one earlier but I think he's redeemed himself making a splendid catch. He's taken one catch already but that was a bit special. He is tall so he has a good reach.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:25 BST 17 April

    Bracey lbw b Balderson 12 (Gloucs 105-5 v Lancs)

    And another!

James Bracey is trapped by George Balderson on the back pad for 12.

That one looked to have pitched outside of leg stump though - big decision by the umpire.

Balderson has figures of 4-26 from 13.4 overs.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:24 BST 17 April

    Geddes c Harrison b Sanderson 65 (Northants v Middlesex 150-5)

Big wicket as Ben Sanderson claims another big wicket.

He gets a ball to swing away from the bat of Ben Geddes who nicks an outside edge towards second slip.

Calvin Harrison tumbles to his left to take a smart two-handed catch low down.

Having also removed dangerman Leus Du Plooy, Sanderson now has 3-49.

    Joe Cracknell is in.
