    Northants v Middlesex 225-6

Calvin Harrison's 10th over is tidy but costs five runs, capped by another quick single as the scoreboard continues to tick over.

The running has been a real feature between Joe Cracknell (32) and Zafar Gohar (37). Wheels.

  2. Postpublished at 15:47 BST 17 April

    Hants 237-9 v Somerset

Glorious cover drive from Jake Lehmann who dissects two fielders on the boundary for four runs.

That was probably the best shot of Hampshire's innings by Lehmann who moves on to 75 not out.

  3. Postpublished at 15:44 BST 17 April

    Hants 232-9 v Somerset

Sonny Baker survives two deliveries from Craig Overton and Jake Lehmann will have the strike once more.

Lehmann is currently 70 not out with his final partner at the crease.

Joe Cracknell guides Calvin Harrison for a single to bring up the fifty stand for the seventh wicket with Zafar Gohar, off 83 balls.

A second half-century stand for Middlesex as the middle order continues to accumulate.

Having been 20-3 after winning the toss, it's been a decent fightback from the visitors

  5. 'Unnecessary from Jack'published at 15:40 BST 17 April

    Hants 231-9 v Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

A little bit unnecessary from Eddie Jack. He's got to read the room a little better there in terms of cricket awareness.

You've already attempted that shot, it didn't quite come off. You've got some runs off the over, you've got loads of work to do in terms of getting Hampshire up to a decent total with Lehmann at the other end.

You've just got to try and support him through and that was a little bit of a throwaway dismissal for me.

  6. Postpublished at 15:36 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 212-6

Right-arm seamer James Sales is handed the ball for the first time today as Northants look to break a nagging seventh-wicket partnership which stands at 43.

It's looking pretty comfy at the moment for the visitors as we head towards tea.

Sales almost gets his second ball through Zafar Gohar, but the Middlesex batter keeps it out. More nimble running brings a single.

Saif Zaib does well on the deep third boundary rope to deny Joe Cracknell a four, but they run through for three.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:36 BST 17 April

    Jack c Leach b Vaughan 36 (Hants 231-9 v Somerset)

And the spin does the trick - Somerset claim their ninth wicket!

Eddie Jack is tempted into the old heave ho but doesn't time it at all and Jack Leach makes a simple take under the high ball at deep mid off.

Bit unnecessary that from Jack who had played well for his 36 with a lot of batting still to be done.

    Last man in, Sonny Baker.

  8. Postpublished at 15:34 BST 17 April

    Hants 229-8 v Somerset

We will have a change in bowling as Archie Vaughan is on for a bit of spin from the pavilion end.

  9. 'Hants will be pleased by Jack performance'published at 15:33 BST 17 April

    Hants 229-8 v Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

He's playing very well Eddie Jack.

He's supported Lehmann very well, he looks a player.

His batting can develop as well as his bowling. I think Hampshire will be very pleased.

  10. Postpublished at 15:29 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 205-6

A snorter first up from Liam Guthrie, banged in off the back-of-a-length, whistles past the nose as Zafar Gohar takes evasive action.

His fourth ball errs on the straight side and Gohar forces it through the legside for three more to go to 28.

The partnership is up to 41. Valuable runs.

    Hants 224-8 v Somerset

Four byes mean the 50 partnership is up for Eddie Jack and Jake Lehmann who continue to lead Hampshire's fightback.

An excellent shot from Eddie Jack with the following delivery past deep backward square leg sees him move onto 31 not out - which equals Jack's best ever score in first-class cricket.

  12. 'Hants holding out well after collapse'published at 15:24 BST 17 April

    Hants 216-8 v Somerset

    Dan George
    BBC Sport at Utilita Bowl

Hampshire are holding out well here after losing a number of wickets just before and after lunch.

Jake Lehmann is continuing to show his class in the middle while Eddie Jack has also played some lovely shots in the last few minutes.

After losing Abbott at 169/8 these two have done well to reach 216.

  13. 200 runs

200 up for Middlesexpublished at 15:24 BST 17 April

    Northants v Middlesex 201-6

Much better from Liam Guthrie who is bang on the money to Joe Cracknell.

The Middlesex man finally gets him away for a single before Zafar Gohar continues on his merry way as a back-foot punch brings him a four off the final ball to go to 25.

Cracknell then takes a sharp single off Calvin Harrison to bring up the 200 in the 51st over.

  14. Early tea being taken at Bristolpublished at 15:23 BST 17 April

Gloucs 124-6 v Lancs (off for rain)

With the rain continue to fall, and the covers remaining on, the umpires have called tea at Bristol.

  15. Postpublished at 15:20 BST 17 April

Gloucs 124-6 v Lancs (off for rain)

As promised, we would bring you an update on the situation revolving around Ajeet Singh Dale.

The fast bowler picked up a hamstring injury as he raced in to deliver the first ball of his third over this morning in Bristol.

Unfortunately for the former Gloucestershire man it is bad news, he is unable to continue this match, and Lancashire have confirmed that his place in the side will now be taken by Ollie Sutton who is currently making his way to the South West from Lancs' second XI match against Leicestershire.

  16. 'Good footwork from Jack'published at 15:19 BST 17 April

    Hants 214-8 v Somerset

    Michael Carberry
    Former England batter

He's shown some good footwork in this innings. He's prepared to come down the track or he's gone right back. He picks length very well.

  17. Postpublished at 15:16 BST 17 April

    Hants 214-8 v Somerset

    Two shots of real confidence.

First, Eddie Jack reverse sweeps Jack Leach for four, dissecting the field beautifully.

The following ball, Jack lofts a terrific cover drive for four more - going on the attack as he moves onto 27 not out from 32 balls.

Leach's first 6.3 overs have gone for 43 runs.

  18. Early tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:14 BST 17 April

    Warks 113-7 v Essex

The covers remain on at Edgbaston as the rain continues to fall over this part of Birmingham.

Umpires have made the sensible decision to take an early tea and hope the skies clear later for more play.

Probably safe to say the home batters won't be that keen to return today.

  19. 'Hants on a good rate'published at 15:13 BST 17 April

    Hants 203-8 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A handsome shot from Jake Lehmann. Jack Leach tossed that one up but it was over pitched, half volley.

They've (Hampshire) gone along at a good rate of knots on a decent batting pitch.

  20. 200 runs

200 up for Hantspublished at 15:08 BST 17 April

    Hants 202-8 v Somerset

A misfield at cover point sees Eddie Jack hit his third boundary of the innings as he moves onto 16 not out.

The following over, Jack Leach gives Jake Lehmann the opportunity of a half volley which the Australian dispatches with minimal fuss to bring up Hampshire's 200.

These are important runs for the hosts, no doubt.
