Fakhar Zaman's been elevated to the top of the order and you think what might have been when you see this partnership and Fakhar smiting it to all parts.

Fakhar Zaman whips Dunith Wellalage behind squad for four.

    He has fifty.

It's exactly what Pakistan wanted and needed - going at 10 an over without losing a wicket. It's the perfect platform.

What they won't want is to lose a wicket and then collapse in a heap, which they've done before.

  4. Pak 113-0published at 11.1 overs

Dunith Wellalage is hammered over long-on by Sahibzada Farhan.

Even after a quiet over, Pakistan hit back.

I think there was an under-edge on that. Theekshana wasn't as interested as the wicketkeeper. They didn't review it.

Fakhar moved a long way outside off-stump.

    UltraEdge is being weird again.

  6. Pak 107-0published at 11 overs

Wasim Akram is happy Fakhar Zaman back opening the batting on the TV commentary. "He's an opener. This is his right place, not a middle-order batter. He's a dangerous player," he says.

There's a sniff of a caught behind off the final ball of the over when Fakhar backs away. Sri Lanka decline to review and UltraEdge shows there was a bit of bat on it.

A relatively tight over for Maheesh Theekshana.

WinViz has it 79-21 in Pakistan's favour against Sri LankaImage source, BBC Sport/CricViz

This excellent partnership has put Pakistan in complete control on WinViz.

Although, a reminder that Pakistan need more than a win today. They also need to win by a considerable margin - at least 64 runs we think (it will become clearer at the halfway mark) - to overtake New Zealand's net run-rate.

  8. Pak 102-0published at 10 overs

Pakistan are sitting pretty at the halfway point in their innings.

What will they eyeing here? 220, 230?

I find it SO hard with terms like ‘don’t deserve to qualify’. What does that mean? It’s been used against England too. Teams that find a way to win at the right time absolutely deserve to be there, that’s the beauty of tournament competitions.

We've seen some great striking from Pakistan but Sri Lanka's bowling has been quite ordinary.

When Fakhar Zaman bats like this, you wonder how they can ever drop him.

  11. Pak 98-0published at 9.4 overs

Dunith Wellalage starts with a couple of wides which will aid the Pakistan cause.

The Sri Lankan spinner is a little too full later in the over and Fakhar Zaman crisply strikes a flat boundary over extra cover for four.

There's been a few lapses in concentration from Sri Lanka in the field. They can't let that creep in or Pakistan will run away with this.

  13. Pak 90-0published at 9 overs

Some sloppy fielding allows Pakistan to pinch a couple of runs off Dasun Shanaka, much to the Sri Lanka skippers' chagrin.

Later in the over the left-handed Fakhar Zaman beautifully times a square drive for four.

Good start from Pakistan and credit where it's due, but have to be disappointed with Sri Lanka's showing since beating the Aussies. Looks like they've given up a bit.

Brilliant tournament for Sahibzada Farhan. When his team need him the most, he's stepping up.

Sri Lanka fell away in the Super 8s. That win against Australia was the peak of their tournament.

Fakhar Zaman is starting to find his rhythm. He's been starved of the strike but he's motoring now.
