While this was a very handy bit of fielding from Sophie Ecclestone too.

A lot to be pleased about from England's perspective.

The focus will be on the batting, but this was a lovely bit of bowling from Lauren Bell, stopping Jemimah Rodrigues in her tracks.

England captain Charlie Dean, speaking to BBC Test Match Special: "It was sensational, Caps and Heather really brought it home for us. It was such a great win. To chase it down in style was brilliant. We have been working hard on our T20 game and it's brilliant to see it come to fruition today.

"Alice was fantastic, the way she hit down the ground and picked her moments, it was a brilliant display of batting.

"Heather Knight loves Taunton and I love watching Heather bat here. We know how much of a class player she is and for her to come out like that today was brilliant."

Heather Knight had not scored more than 28 in her first six innings of the international summer, while her strike-rate was facing scrutiny.

Tonight she smashed 70 from 42 balls, firmly consolidating her place in the side.

Keith Gleeson: An increase in confidence and intent by the England women over this series has been great to watch. A few selection headaches now for Lotty. Good time to come into form for the team as a whole - the improvement in the out fielding is clear to see.

  8. 'There was so much calmness'published at 21:52 BST 2 June

England captain Charlie Dean: "The girls took on the powerplay really well. How brilliant from Capsey and Heather there, a brilliant partnership.

"It was brilliant, they way they picked their moments and picked their bowlers. There was so much calmness, we didn't have any doubt in that dug-out.

"Those are the standards we want to set for ourselves. The girls were phenomenal today. India hit lots of boundaries so it can be hard to keep yourself up. Our fielding performance is all you can ask for.

"I'm really enjoying bowling at the moment. Maybe I was a bit more expensive today. I've got a few different plans, which is exciting, it's coming out of the hand really well."

"I think I've learnt a fair bit about myself [taking on the captaincy]. I feel in a stronger place in myself and in my cricket."

  9. 'A lot of positives'published at 21:49 BST 2 June

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "We got three early wicket and were just thinking about one more. They both played really well and took the game away from us.

"A lot of positives except for that wicket which we were looking for. We are pretty much clear [on best XI] still we have two more practice games where we can think about other combinations. We are clear what our XI will be going forward. We are getting used to these conditions."

  10. 'Batting for England is the main thing'published at 21:47 BST 2 June

Player of the match Alice Capsey: "Obviously really pleasing to get over the line. We've talked a lot about chasing the bigger totals as a batting unit. Heather is a very experienced campaigner, it's always nice to bat with her. Hitting through the line of the ball, it was a lovely pitch out there.

"Up top they bowled pretty well. When they're bowling at length it's hard to get off of. Using my feet, not trying to over-hit it was key.

"I thought the pitch was coming on really nicely, I didn't have to manufacture too many things. I watched how a lot of the India batters went up it, they got a lot of value down the ground.

"I don't think I have a favourite, just batting for England is the main thing."

England have a real opportunity here. The older players have helped the youngsters see their potential. Now it's time to create the best team in the world in the capable hands of Dean, Capsey, Dunkley, Smith, Bell etc.

I don’t think England would have chased that two years ago.

Don't forget that there was a really solid batting performance from India in the first innings of this match.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was top-scorer for the tourists, hitting 56 off 40 balls.

This will give England so much confidence, knowing they have the firepower. It has felt sticky previously and frustrating because you felt they were capable. Alice Capsey made it look so easy. Yes, India were short of where they should have been but they still have some brilliant bowlers.

Alice Capsey's 82 off 43 is the second highest score by an England batter at number four or lower in T20Is, behind Heather Knight's 108* off 66 against Thailand in 2020.

Not the greatest day for India's bowlers. Kranti Gaud and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets apiece, but for 31 and 40 runs respectively, as they completed their allocation.

England were not troubled by any member of the attack, with Reddy's economy rate of 7.75, the best of any bowler.

We've been saying for ages that England need more options. They have that now.

I thought England would have to do something special to chase this down, purely because of what has happened before. In 10 of their last 11 matches they have lost when chasing more than 150 so the probablilty was they wouldn't chase it down but Alice Capsey and Heather Knight were oustanding.
