Summary

Have your say on the Men's T20 World Cup

  1. Umpire reviewpublished at 14.2 overs

    USA 90-4

A very confident appeal from Varun Chakravarthy for lbw and the umpire's fingers go up.

But Shubham Ranjane is equally confident and signals for a review straightaway.

And the UltraEdge indeed shows a spike and the USA batter is safe for now.

  2. USA 89-4published at 14 overs

    73 needed off 36 balls

Axar Patel begins with a ball on the leg stump and Sanjay Krishnamurthi punishes him with a six.

The USA batter goes after him again two balls later, but this time he is fortunate it lands just short of Abhishek Sharma at deep mid-wicket.

  3. USA 78-4published at 13 overs

    84 needed off 42 balls

Seven runs from Hardik Pandya's over, including a four from new batter Shubham Ranjane.

But USA will want a lot more of that if they are to keep this chase alive and put any real pressure back on India.

A bizarre one because Milind Kumar didn't leave his crease to play his shot. The only thing I can think is that Milind thought it had run away.

The partnership that we spoke about needing to continue has been broken.

  5. wicket

Milind st Ishan b Varun 34 (USA 71-4)

    That's a bizarre dismissal!

Varun Chakravarthy beats the inside edge of Milind Kumar and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan collects.

But it looks like the USA batter thought the ball had gone past the India wicketkeeper and almost sets off for a single, allowing Ishan to dislodge the bails.

India still have Jasprit Bumrah to add to this attack! Shame there’s no Virat Kohli anymore but this India team is box office entertainment.

  7. 6 runs

    USA 63-3published at 11 overs

    99 needed off 54 balls

Sanjay Krishnamurthi has played a patient knock so far.

But he clears the rope over long-on for his first boundary to move to 17 from 16 balls while Milind Kumar is on a 32-ball 33.

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 10.3 overs

    USA 54-3

India go upstairs after an lbw shout against Milind Kumar is turned down by the umpire.

It looks like Hardik Pandya has hit him high on his pad and the replays show that was indeed the case.

The hosts have lost a review.

  9. USA 49-3published at 10 overs

    Target 162

Another mix-up in the middle as Milind Kumar sends his shot fine on the off side and wants a single but he is sent back by his batting partner.

However, he looks to have returned home safe.

  10. 6 runs

    USA 48-3published at 9.4 overs

    Target 162

    Some much-needed runs for USA.

Milind Kumar hits a mighty six off Axar Patel, who is hammered over his head for the first boundary since the sixth over.

The game is just reaching its more tedious pattern. It feels like the USA have given up on chasing this down and it is more of a case of seeing how long they can bat for.

  12. USA 41-3published at 9 overs

    Target 162

Varun Chakravarthy begins with an lbw shout against Milind Kumar but looks like it is going down the leg.

The India bowler finishes the over by conceding two singles.

  13. USA 39-3published at 8 overs

    Target 162

More spin as Axar Patel is introduced from the other end.

A collective gasp at the Wankhede as there is a mix-up between Milind Kumar and Sanjay Krishnamurthi but Tilak Varma misfields, allowing the USA duo to run the single comfortably in the end.

  14. USA 36-3published at 7 overs

    Target 162

Varun Chakravarthy is into the attack for the first time this evening after the drinks break.

USA get five runs off his leg-spin but they will need to start accelerating now to stay in this chase.

The required run-rate currently stands at 9.69.

To cricket newcomers following this T20 World Cup, there’s a golden rule. Don’t assume anything until both teams have had the bat. Ever.

  16. USA 31-3published at 6 overs

That's the end of the powerplay - and USA manage seven runs off it.

Sanjay Krishnamurthi almost drags one onto his stumps before Mohammed Siraj's delivery whistles past the bat of Milind Kumar.

Milind, however, sends the following delivery to third for the second boundary of his innings.

  17. USA 24-3published at 5 overs

Mohammed Siraj almost pulls off a stunner in the field now.

Arshdeep Singh produces an outside edge off Milind Kumar towards short third where Siraj makes a full dive towards his right but just can't hold onto the ball to complete what would've been a brilliant catch.

Three down, USA are looking to steady their innings and takes nine runs from that over - five singles and a boundary from Milind Kumar fine through the leg side.

Saiteja Mukkamalla really needed to move the scoreboard on. There was no point in hanging around so he tried to take advantage of a fullish ball from Mohammed Siraj.

India breathe another sigh of relief.

    USA are unravelling in Mumbai!

It's another tame catch for Varun Chakravarthy at mid-wicket and it's Saiteja Mukkamalla who will depart.

Mohammed Siraj wasn't even supposed to be here but the India pacer gets his second wicket.

  20. USA 12-2published at 3 overs

Just a single run and a wicket off that over from Arshdeep Singh.

The pressure is growing on the USA and these two batters - Saiteja Mukkamalla and Milind Kumar - will have to dig in and show some real resolve to steady this chase.
