That was a hard to watch powerplay from an English perspective but boy, Samson and Kishan know how to play the field. We will need to bat very well if India keep on at this rate.

India's Sanju Samson (L) runs between the wickets as England's Adil RashidImage source, Getty Images

A good comeback from Adil Rashid after giving away that boundary off his first ball.

He bowls three dots and gives away just two more singles in the remainder of his over.

Sanju Samson is on 46 - four short of back-to-back half-centuries.

Over-pitched from Adil Rashid as he tries to get into his over. Sanju Samson will not miss out on that length.

England will be thinking about staying in the moment and not looking too far ahead to a total.

  4. Ind 71-1published at 6.1 overs

Adil Rashid is introduced by England as the game resumes after the drinks break.

But Sanju Samson, as he did to the West Indies spinners last time out, has tucked into the England leg-spinner right away, crunching him through the covers to resume the proceedings.

    Rufus Bullough
    CricViz analyst

England’s seamers have been wayward so far in the powerplay, hitting a good line and length with just 20% of deliveries - their second lowest percentage of the tournament. In their previous outing at the Wankhede against Nepal, they hit a good line and length with 52% of their deliveries in the opening phase.

The game is bounding away from England. Wicket please.

    Don Win, Shenzhen

This pitch is an absolute road with a lightning fast outfield. England have not been playing on those of late in Sri Lanka, how does that affect the mindset of what a par score is? Used to chasing 170-ish but par here is 220?

Harry Brook will not have much time to talk to anyone in this break. The players will be talking about hanging in there and keeping their intent to take wickets.

The batters just keep on coming for India.

    Ind 67-1

That's the end of a powerplay in which India look well and truly on top.

Sanju Samson is on 41 from 20 balls while Ishan Kishan has 16 from nine balls as the players take replenishments.

With every run that Sanju Samson scores, England will be thinking it is not their day.

Samson looks formidable at the moment.

  12. Ind 63-1published at 5.3 overs

Sanju Samson lifts Sam Curran over mid-on this time.

It's not perfectly timed but it's enough to take it to the boundary.

Samson then opens the face of his bat to make it back-to-back boundaries - the latest coming through the third.

  13. Ind 55-1published at 5 overs

One more over of the powerplay remaining.

Sam Curran is entrusted with the ball by England captain Harry Brook to stem the flow of the runs.

Ishan Kishan is using the pace of Jamie Overton here. The rapid boundaries are aiding the batters once again.

This pitch looks like a belter.

  16. Ind 51-1published at 4.3 overs

Jamie Overton replaces Jofra Archer who has not had the kind of impact England would have hoped for from his first two overs.

But it's more of the same story from the India batters with Ishan Kishan flickingthe England pacer off his pads for a four behind square.

India pass 50 with 27 balls bowled.

Fans have gathered on the famous Marine Drive, adjacent to the Wankhede Stadium, chanting slogans and singing songs in support of the Indian team. It is like a festival on the promenade.

Many are disappointed to not get entry - the tickets are being sold on the black market for as high as £200.

Inside, stands are still filling in as crowds queue up to get in just before the sun sets.

Harry Brook will be praying that someone gets Sanju Samson out. He won't care how, but he will be desperate for someone to take that wicket.

  20. Ind 45-1published at 4 overs

With Sanju Samson taking the initiative, we've not had time to mention the new batter in - Ishan Kishan.

But Kishan himself has been dangerous in the early stages of this tournament and finds his first boundary through deep backward square leg here.

India have cruised to a healthy 45-1 after four over despite losing opener Abhishek Sharma.
