I am going to go ahead and say I think Jonny has been overcautious with his declaration. He needed to give Warwickshire a sniff. I just have a feeling the Bears will be 60-0 or 1 at the close and will shut up shop tomorrow.

    Notts 14-0 - target 473

Haseeb Hameed punishes the wide ball outside off stump from Alfie Ogborne and it races away for four.

Notts need to go at just over four an over if they do have lofty ambitions of trying to win this game.

You don't see that very often.

Jaydev Unadkat fires down a bouncer to Timm van der Gugten who leans out of the way but leaves his bat in the horizontal position and it flicks the edge before flying over the keeper for four.

    Northants 465 v Gloucs 268 & 209-6 (f/o)

James Bracey gets a big life on 55 as an edge is grassed off the bowling of James Sales.

Stand-in wicketkeeper Ricardo Vasconcelos dives full length to his left and gets gloves to the ball but can't hold on. But should he have left it?

It did look to be flying to first slip Justin Broad.

Bracey trots through for a single.

At the end of the over in which he completed his century Leus du Plooy calls time on the Middlesex innings.

It sets Worcestershire 358 to win which looks a big ask on a pitch which has never stopped offering something for the bowlers.

The other main contributions to the Middlesex second innings came from Joe Cracknell, 46 and Zafar Gohar 39 not out.

There were two wickets each for Ben Allision and injury replacement Harry Darley.

Worcestershire will have to negotiate 14 overs to the close.

    Cooke lbw Coles 26 (Sussex 521 v Glamorgan 155 & 261-7)

Arm ball from left-arm spinner beats Chris Cooke's defensive prod and the Glamorgan keeper is gone.

He looks back to check the position of his pad in relation to the stumps, but the drift in from outside off has done for him.

Another 13 overs still left after this one as Mason Crane comes out to bat.

100 for Du Plooypublished at 17:21 BST 14 June

    Middx 339 & 282-6 v Worcs 265

Middlesex captain Leus du Plooy follows his first innings 85 with an excellent century, the 26th of his first class career.

Dropped on 26, he gets there hitting Ben Allison square and benefitting from a mis-field. He punches the air and then makes a gesture of signing his bat, whatever that means.

It's now down to Du Plooy to decide on the declaration.

    Middlesex lead by 356.

It’s been a bit of a battle for Lewis Hill, but he goes to fifty as a thick outside edge off Shane Snater brings him two more.

The 35-year-old has been out there a long time - for 173 balls to be precise - as he brings up the landmark for the 29th time in his first-class career.

He came in with Leicestershire backs firmly against the wall and is doing a job for his county. Well played!

How much of a lead can the last four wickets eke out? It stands at 69.

    Notts 0-0 - target 473

Nottinghamshire will have to bat for at least 18 overs tonight. You'd imagine the main objective is to avoid losing wickets rather than worrying too much about chasing down 473.

Only three sides have ever chased down that many or more in English first-class cricket history:

    • 502-6 - Middlesex v Nottinghamshire, June 1925
    • 501-5 - Surrey v Kent, June 2023
    • 479-6 - Somerset v Yorkshire, June 2009

    Northants 465 v Gloucs 268 & 201-6 (f/o)

James Sales returns to the attack and concedes a single to James Bracey which brings the scores level and ensures Northants will have to bat a second time in the game.

Kristian Clarke shows nice hands to guide Sales past George Bartlett at gully for four more to bring up the lead.

How many will the hosts have to chase?

Just two more wickets needed for the win for Kent.
