Strange decision to bring on Jimmy Neesham. New Zealand are one wicket away from getting South Africa into trouble that haven't been in so far in this tournament.

A wicket is what they should be aiming for.

Typically, Aiden Markram hits the ball after his reprieve to the boundary, picking up four through cover off a wider delivery from Lockie Ferguson.

He and Dewald Brevis exchange singles to finish the fourth over.

    Six from it.

Rachin Ravindra should have been taking that. It just shows how much bounce there is in this pitch.

He almost dived and got caught between two minds of diving and rolling.

That could be a key life lost! Should have been taken by Rachin Ravindra.

Rachin Ravindra's face is contorted in a grimace as the camera lingers on him. He's just dropped South Africa captain Aiden Markram on three.

It's straight to him at mid-wicket but he can't cling on.

The issue with South Africa in tournaments is when it really counts, our big players never stand up and take the game away from the opponent. Tough start for us already, let’s see who steps up!

Might be a bit early for this, but are South Africa choking already?

The beauty for New Zealand is so many options with the spinners. Mitch Santner can bring himself on and Rachin Ravindra is their best wicket-taker.

How they choose to use their seamers in the powerplay will be important.

  9. SA 22-2published at 3 overs

Five wides off the second ball spoil what was a tidy over from Matt Henry.

A mid-over single for Aiden Markram is the only other addition to South Africa's total.

  10. SA 16-2published at 2 overs

    No hat-trick. Booooooo.

Dewald Brevis plays a streaky outside edge through the vacant slip region for four. Bowler Cole McConchie has his hands behind his head. Why wasn't there a slip in?

A very good wicket for New Zealand. That one was quicker from Cole McConchie.

South Africa have not been challenged in their powerplay so far so the change of pace has really paid off for New Zealand.

Very smart batting from Quinton de Kock. There is a little bit of bounce and a tight line from Matt Henry but that is a strong area for the batter.

South Africa have really relied on Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock to put pressure on and attack at different times. The left-hand right-hand makes teams think twice.

This will be a challenge for New Zealand and it will be interesting to see how they use their bowlers.
