I don't believe I have seen that! An extraordinary drop from Glenn Phillips.

Now that's something of a collector's item - a dropped catch from Glenn Phillips.

David Miller slices his shot but Phillips, charging across from the covers, over-runs the ball and spills his catch.

After seeing his first ball hit for six, Mitchell Santner only concedes four singles off the next five balls.

My interpretation. Daryl Mitchell was probably telling his teammates "Yeah I caught it, have a look at the screen".

Markram was 100% not out. 100%. That is a questionable decision.

    Mehmet, Nottingham

What was that? The ball obviously went through Mitchell's fingers onto the grass!

Speaking of fireworks... Dewald Brevis opens the ninth over by pulling Mitchell Santner for six over mid-on.

Eight overs into this semi-final and New Zealand are on top.

They've removed South Africa's top three and the Proteas are only scoring at a shade over seven an over.

Not quite the fireworks many were expecting at Eden Gardens.

That was the sort of catch you could have spent 10 minutes debating. Curious the way Daryl Mitchell ran to question if he caught it or not.

A big wicket. Aiden Markram has had a tremendous tournament but struggled to find his rhythm today.

The third umpire is fairly swift with his decision. He's convinced Daryl Mitchell has his fingers under the ball.

Aiden Markram departs for 18 (21). Rachin Ravindra has a wicket to make up for dropping the South Africa captain on three.

It was a solid diving effort from Mitchell at long-on, coming in off the rope.

The second you give the umpire the opportunity to believe there is doubt, it is not out for me.

That looks like it was caught to me! A strange incident.

Daryl Mitchell might have just taken a fine diving catch to remove Aiden Markram - and made Rachin Ravindra's day in the process.

He doesn't know if he's caught it, making the square in the air signal.

  12. SA 53-2published at 7.1 overs

Rachin Ravindra opens up with a wide but follows it with a dot ball.

The fourth umpire jogs on to attend to some issue with the bails. Mitchell Santner takes the opportunity to impart some spin wisdom on young Ravindra.

Both these batters are strong at hitting down the ground and they will be looking for that option here.

New Zealand look right on top, but do they have the death bowlers they need?

Aiden Markram and Dewald Brevis are content to trot through for three singles and a leg bye against Mitchell Santner.

It's going to be spin from both ends, with Rachin Ravindra warming himself up. How desperate he'll be to make amends for dropping Markram on three in the powerplay.

Time for a return to spin. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner will bowl the first over after the powerplay.

A good powerplay for South Africa. They still have Aiden Markram in and these two are finding momentum.

The challenge will be the left-arm spinners from New Zealand but the game is still in the balance. Expect fireworks.

A tidy over from Lockie Ferguson, conceding two singles and a wide. He gets quite ridiculous bounce from his final delivery and the ball bursts through wicketkeeper Tim Seifert's hands and into his nose. Ouch.

From 12-2, South Africa will probably be pretty happy with 48-2 to show for the powerplay.

Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton gifted away their wickets and Aiden Markram really should be back in the changing room with them - he was dropped by Rachin Ravindra on three.

    He's up to 16 (15) while Dewald Brevis has 15 (12).

  18. SA 45-2published at 5 overs

Yup. As expected, Jimmy Neesham's over is costly.

Dewald Brevis finishes it with back-to-back fours - almost identical drives through cover.

South Africa are starting to find their mojo.

Both Dawid and Daniel Norcross are surprised by Jimmy Neesham's introduction into the bowling attack with two overs to go in the powerplay and his third legitimate delivery goes for six.

Too full and Aiden Markram guides it over mid-wicket.
