Have your say on the Men's T20 World Cup

  1. WI 113-3published at 13 overs

Can we class that as a drop from Tilak Varma?

India have been guilty of missing a few chances today. Although the co-hosts have wrestled back some control in the past few overs.

  2. 6 runs

    WI 109-3published at 12.1 overs

Sherfane Rutherford slogs Axar Patel to deep mid-wicket and Tilak Varma leaps in the air - but allows the ball through his grasp and it goes for six.

A soft dismissal but Roston Chase was outfoxed by that ball. That could be a pivotal over that we look back on.

One of these sides could go all the way to win this tournament and overs like that can be the reason.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.5 overs

    Chase c Suryakumar b Bumrah 40 (WI 103-3)

Two wickets in the over and India are roaring back here through Jasprit Bumrah as he outfoxes Roston Chase with a slower ball.

Bumrah holds it back sufficiently but Chase commits, is through the shot, and ends up spooning the ball into the air high off the bat.

There's still plenty for Suryakumar Yadav to do at cover but he makes up the ground and dives to take the catch behind him.

Shimron Hetmyer does not look convinced by the technology. That was an outstanding piece of umpiring on the field.

The evidence is there and you have to take that one as a batter. Jasprit Bumrah is the man.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

    Hetmyer c Samson b Bumrah 27 (WI 102-2)

UltraEdge shows there is a faint inside edge on it.

But Shimron Hetmyer is not a happy man. He does not think he's hit it.

Jasprit Bumrah is instantly asking questions of the batters as soon as he is into the attack.

I did not hear anything on that. Perhaps it was just something on his trousers.

  9. West Indies reviewpublished at 11.3 overs

Jasprit Bumrah darts one across the left-hander Shimron Hetmyer, who swings to leg and does not appear to connect.

Sanju Samson celebrates as does Bumrah after it is given out on field.

Hetmyer reviews. Has this brushed his pocket?

Shimron Hetmyer does not need to be doing more than he already is.

Varun Chakravarthy is not bowling the right lengths at the moment. He needs to get the ball driving but he looks to be lacking confidence.

  11. WI 99-1published at 11 overs

Shimron Hetmyer picks up length so well.

He gets one just a fraction short from Varun Chakravarthy and strikes it as clean as a whistle across the line for six through mid-wicket.

Later in the over, Varun pushes it wide but the left-handed Hetmyer uses his reach and squirts a cut through cover for four.

Hardik Pandya is already going to some variations. You can understand why he does not want to bowl straight at the West Indies at the moment.

  13. WI 82-1published at 10 overs

Hardik Pandya with a bit of mixed bag of an over.

At the halfway point, West Indies have a platform. They'll be eyeing up 200 here.

Can the India bowlers get their plans together now?

The fielding has to step up for me. They need to put some pressure on the new batter.

  15. 6 runs

    WI 75-1published at 9.2 overs

Shimron Hetmyer is swaggering with confidence.

He swings across the line to Hardik Pandya and deposits the India all-rounder over the boundary at deep mid-wicket with an 86-metre six.

  16. WI 69-1published at 9 overs

Shimron Hetmyer, who has hit 17 sixes in this tournament, is the new batter for West Indies. He has been in red-hot form.

The left-hander nudges one into the leg side off Varun Chakravarthy to keep the strike.

You got a sense that Shai Hope was getting frustrated. But West Indies have the start that they wanted.

Suryakumar Yadav will be breathing a sigh of relief.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

    Hope b Chakravarthy 32 (WI 68-1)

Varun Chakravarthy and his box of spin tricks into the attack.

Roston Chase steps outside the line and attempts to sweep his second ball and is struck on the pad, prompting an appeal, but he's too far across.

Later in the over, though, Varun has the breakthrough for India as he skids one through which Shai Hope attempts to cut but misses. Hits the top of middle.

Roston Chase is playing a blinder here.

It is strange for me that Jasprit Bumrah did not start with the new ball.

  20. Wi 63-0published at 8 ooers

Roston Chase reverse sweeps Axar Patel for four.

It's not the most elegant of strokes, but still pretty effective.

Shai Hope has a swing at a few later in the over but is not quite able to connect.
