Let's see if Drake Maye can get something moving for the Patriots on their third possession, with just 17 yards of offence so far after two possessions.

A reminder New England 0-4 in the play-offs in Denver.

Jarrett Stidham under pressure but manages to get a pass away over the middle to Courtland Sutton, it's a touch behind him and the receiver can't gather it off his hip.

He was free though and probably should've caught that for a first down. Denver have to punt instead.

Sean Payton knows how important it is to have a back-up quarterback. Your whole season can be over if you don't have the right one. That's why they believe in Stiddy - or Studdy - right now.

  4. Man downpublished at 20:33 GMT 25 January

Linebacker Robert Spillane is down injured for the Patriots and that will be a huge worry as he's one of their leaders in the defence.

He's also the defensive play caller, meaning he gets instructions from the sideline into his helmet to dish out to his troops.

The Broncos have set the tone. It's an attitude. They are saying 'We're not letting you win this game with any of your big stars. Drake Maye, use your feet or find another way to win this game. We're not letting you go to your elite players'.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Broncos will put up more of a fight than people are giving them.

Jarrett Stidham is back out and moves the chains here with a simple pass to Pat Bryant - before then taking off on a QB keeper for eight yards.

The crowd are loving Stiddy now and he looks right at home back there now.

  10. Pats punt againpublished at 20:26 GMT 25 January

New England Patriots 0-7 Denver Broncos - first quarter

New England get their opening first down of the game, but then Pat Surtain stops Kayshon Boutte from gathering a deep pass.

Drake Maye then feels the pressure from this 'Orange rush' pass rush in Denver and he just throws a short pass that get nowhere near the first down.

Pats have to kick it away, and not very far either with just a 34-yard punt.

This is a great chess match been Josh McDaniels, the great offensive co-ordinator, against Vance Joseph (defensive co-ordinator for the Broncos).

You know, Sean Payton said "Stiddy's ready" almost immediately after Bo Nix broke his ankle after last week's game, and he's shown unwavering confidence in his back-up ever since.

He believes Jarrett Stidham could be a starter in this league, and that touchdown drive showed just why. Yes, some good play calling from Payton but superb execution too.

Could something special be happening here?

The post-season is really made for heroes.

That is the longest pass play of the season for the Broncos and all of a sudden Jarrett Stidham on his second possession gets it.

I bet you it's a little different on the sidelines for the Patriots now.

It's there! On second and goal Jarrett Stidham off play action, rolls out to his right and then floats a pass to Courtland Sutton at the back of the end zone.

No passes in two years, then a 54-yard completion and a perfect six-yard touchdown pass for Stidham who has shown remarkable poise and confidence in just a fifth career start remember.

    Bo who?

  15. Stiddy magic!published at 20:15 GMT 25 January

Wow! Jarrett Stidham launches a 54-yard bomb to Marvin Mims for a massive play for Denver, just yards short of the end zone.

What a play by the back-up!

Almost some Jarrett Stidham magic here as he dances in and out of the pocket to buy some time - he rolls out right and throws downfield but RJ Harvey can't catch it.

Then Stidham misses an easy short pass to Marvin Mims who had a screen out in front of him.

  18. Almost picked!published at 20:10 GMT 25 January

New England Patriots 0-0 Denver Broncos - first quarter

Ooo! Drake Maye tries to squeeze a third-down pass through into a tight window, not even a porthole here for that and it could, actually it should, have been picked off by Talanoa Hufanga.

Big escape for the Pats as they get to punt it away. Fierce defence to start us off here, as if we expected anything less!

  19. Maye doing it the hard waypublished at 20:08 GMT 25 January

We've all heard about the Patriots having an easy schedule, but there's nothing easy about their play-off route to the Super Bowl.

No quarterback has ever beaten three top-five defences in one post-season, but Drake Maye has already beaten the Chargers (5th) and Texans (1st) and now plays the Broncos (2nd).

It won't be easy though against this league-leading pass rush will be all over him, and he has had six fumbles in two play-off games so far, and been sacked 10 times!

If the Pats get to the Super Bowl, make no mistake they'll have earned it.

  20. 'The greatest home advantage in the NFL'published at 20:08 GMT 25 January

New England Patriots 0-0 Denver Broncos - first quarter

    Greg Brady
NFL pundit on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

On how much home advantage will favour the Denver Broncos...

It does seem to be. It's called by many the greatest home advantage in the NFL due to how Mile High functions. You hit a threshold faster and tire more quickly.

I bet we will be describing players getting oxygen on the sidelines.

I'm an average athlete at best and the very first time I went to Denver in 1999, I took a jog and I was gassed after 200 metres. The altitude hits you no matter what in Denver, Colorado.
