Los Angeles Rams 7-7 Chicago Bears - second quarter

Colston Loveland takes a good catch for 10 yards and a first down.

The giant tight end had a monster game last week with eight catches for 137 yards - both record numbers for a rookie tight end in a single play-off game.

He looks like he could be a huge star going forward in the NFL - and who knows his career could get off to the perfect start with a Super Bowl in his debut campaign.

This is what we love about the play-offs! People talk all the time about who should get through and seedings and all the rest, but the last couple of weeks have proved that teams can really step it up in the post-season.

And also that home field advantage is huge - as Carolina pushed the Rams all the way last week, and now Chicago have stepped up their game even more than last week to cause Matthew Stafford plenty of headaches.

Once you get to the post-season dance, it's anybody's game.

    Have your say image

Georgia at 23:48 has asked if we'd prefer a dazzling attacking game or a match dominated by stellar defence.

I'll put it to the audience.

Thumbs up for all-out attack, thumbs down if you're a complete defensive nut.

  4. Sack!published at 00:30 GMT 19 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 Chicago Bears - second quarter

Matthew Stafford is sacked again as he gets gobbled up by the Bears pass rush - Jaquan Brisker gets the sack.

Brisker again involved on the next play as he almost picks Stafford off as he tries to find Puka Nacua with a deep ball.

  5. Third down conversionpublished at 00:30 GMT 19 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 Chicago Bears - second quarter

Matthew Stafford fumbles the ball after being hit to bring up third and long, but on the next play he finds tight end Terrance Ferguson with a pinpoint throw to move the sticks.

  6. Rams have to puntpublished at 00:23 GMT 19 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-7 Chicago Bears - second quarter

Careful there Matthew Stafford! He throws a poor pass into double coverage and Kevin Byard is lurking, as he often is, and only just fails to grab an eighth interception of the season.

Byard helpfully has bright orange sleeves on tonight. Stafford would be well advised to steer clear of those as much as possible.

As a still smiling Seahawks fan, I’d happily take either of these teams next week. Always a great game with the Rams and it’d be fun to see how the Bears cope against our defence.

Ben Johnson keeps the offence out there to start the second quarter with a fourth down and goal - and Caleb Williams does the trick by threading the needle to find DJ Moore with the touchdown pass.

That's quite brilliant from Williams, who can see Rams defenders either side and in fact in front of Moore but manages to squeeze the ball through the tightest of windows to find his man in the end zone.

  14. 'Stafford is having an MVP year'published at 00:03 GMT 19 January

Los Angeles Rams 7-0 Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears defensive back Kevin Byard speaking to NBC before kick-off:

"Matthew Stafford is having an MVP year, we know he is a special quarterback.

"For us, first and foremost, we got to stop the run. A lot has been said about their pass game, the cold weather, but these games come down to physicality.

"If we can stop the run and force them into some uncomfortable situations, maybe we can get the win today. It's about playing our hardest and making sure they don't outwork us today."

    Sean McVayImage source, Getty Images

Former NFL coach Phil McGeoghan: Rams

I am such a fan of Sean McVay. His mind, the way it works, his gameplans, also his humour. His willingness to be open. All these things matter in football.

Because of his personality and how he is with the players, he admires his guys. He doesn't pretend Davante Adams isn't one of the best to ever do it. He doesn't pretend he's not in awe of Matthew Stafford when he makes one of his no-look throws. That stuff really builds culture.

That's why they've won Super Bowls, that's why people don't leave there unless they get promoted and get better jobs, because McVay is such a good man and he's a brilliant, brilliant offensive mind so I'm picking Sean McVay and the Rams for those reasons.
