Munro's lesson for February
- Introductions :: page 3

Ok, that's great. So, now if someone asks you "Dè an t-ainm a tha ort?" you will know what they mean and how to answer them.

But there are two ways to introduce yourself in Gaelic - you've learnt the informal one, now let's look at a more formal way to do it.

In Gaelic things tend to be either 'at' or 'on' people. Names fall into the 'on' category, so to introduce myself formally I would say:

'S e Dwelly a tha orm

It is Dwelly that is on me

Listen, then repeat the sounds:

orm
a tha orm
'S e Dwelly a tha orm
