Now lets look at how to ask someone else what their name is.

To do this in Gaelic you have to say: "What is the name that is on you?"

Dè an t-ainm a tha ort?

means "What's"
an t-ainm means "name"
a tha means "is"
and ort means "upon you"

Listen to the sounds:

ort
a tha ort
an t-ainm
an t-ainm a tha ort
Dè an t-ainm a tha ort?
