Spoony: I’ve got a message for you, from an animal believe it or not.. I really have..

Dodge the dog: Hi Sara Cox it’s me! Your old mate Dodge the Dog! Wow, Sara you are my hero, I can’t believe it 135 miles in 5 days! That's more that I do on my walkies! Now listen, if you get bored, throw a stick and then ruuuuuuun towards it, it's really exciting, then you can bring the stick back to yourself. It’s not very good playing fetch on your own but anyway! Me and my pup school pals are rooting for you, we LOVE YOU. Mwah! See you soon!

  2. Patrick the baking prodigypublished at 17:56 GMT 13 November 2025

We've just spoken with Patrick from Stamford who put on his own raffle, where he raised £100!

Having baked since he was two and a half(!), Patrick also baked a Pudsey Bear cake all by himself (with a special mention to mum who helped with washing up duty!) with yellow buttercream icing, Smarties for the eye patch and chocolate buttons... Sounds delicious!

Keep letting us know how you're supporting Sara, every effort and donation is really appreciated.

  3. "The shins can be so naughty can't they?"published at 17:49 GMT 13 November 2025

Spoony spoke to Sara at tea time, to check in on how she is doing. We could barely hear her over the cacophony of motivational whoops and chants from all the supporters out there in the rain cheering Sara on - everyone is so awesome! The elements are doing their best to dampen the spirits, but everyone cheers on.

Sara: I’m just so sore babe, but it's amazing, loads of people, loads of kids (hi kids!). I'm just trying to grind it out, it's dark, it's been raining for hours and hours. It’s my shin, my shins are killing me.

Spoony: The shins can be so naughty, can’t they?

Sara: It’s a whole new world of pain, but we're doing it! We are doing it!

Spoony: Today you went over 100 miles!

Sara: I know, I can’t believe it. I’ve only ever run a half marathon in my life, and now I’ve done 100 miles.

    What an achievement!

Hello studio buddy, I am so unbelievably proud of you. 5 marathons in 5 days. 135 miles. 4 different counties. This is absurd... but you’re doing it, so just keep rattling the numbers. The feats you are achieving on this run, this challenge right now, that’s going to keep you motivated and going. And when you get to Leeds you’re going to see Pudsey and what’s better than being embraced by a cuddly bear in Leeds? It will be worth it Sara, you’ve got this, keep going.

  11. Sara is still feeling the painpublished at 16:43 GMT 13 November 2025

    Sara Cox
BBC Radio 2's Great Northern Marathon Woman

I tell you what, it's like an orchestra, where one bit plays for a bit and it's like your thigh or your calf, and then it's like, okay, the shins can take over now. And the shins are a very particular kind of pain, it's ruddy horrible. But sorry, I keep going on like a nana about my aches and pains!

Hello Radio 2 listeners out in radio land, I miss you all, I can't wait to get back on air and do my proper job next week.

  12. Fish and chip Thursdaypublished at 16:34 GMT 13 November 2025

Sara tucked into some well deserved fish and chips (with some mushy peas, tartar sauce and gravy too of course) on her lunch pitstop. Judging by her face it must have really hit the spot!

She needs good fuel to keep her going - and we're sure the news that she has topped £3 million is giving her as much energy as that delicious lunch did.

  13. 50 children are ready to perform Sara Cox's jinglepublished at 16:23 GMT 13 November 2025

A group of kids from Kirby Malzeard school just performed an amazing cheer based on Sara's show jingle. DJ Spoony got them to give us a sneak preview before they do it for Sara herself - she's going to be blown away by their cuteness.

Spoony was a big fan: "What I can say quite safely here without putting it to a vote is that her old jingle - is now her old jingle. This is gonna be the new one!"

  14. "I'm giving it as much welly as I can."published at 16:16 GMT 13 November 2025

    Sara Cox
BBC Radio 2's Great Northern Marathon Woman

We are not women of a certain vintage, we are not women of a certain age, we are women over 50. It's just the beginning when you get to 50, I'm loving being 50. There are lots of women out in the streets going "Go on!" and I'm high fiving little girls in the street, showing them my biceps! I'm like, "Yes girls, go get it!"

Sara's received a very special call as she stopped by a red telephone box just now, from her mum and sister, who are tracking her from India! It was an emotional moment, with tears and laughter (from all of us!)

'The lengths we've gone to having to avoid run with you!' says Yvonne down the line, while reassuring Sara that they're both watching her every step of the way and telling her 'you've got to just keep going babe'.

Sara describes the moment as being 'like a really weird cheese dream. I'm in the middle of a village in a red phone box and my mum and sister are in India!'

Luckily, Trevor Nelson was on hand to jump in for Jeremy on Radio 2 and Richie Anderson is providing updates on Jeremy's progress as he races from the BBC offices in London to Sara in North Yorkshire.
