ADMIRAL LORD COLLINGWOOD
 Collingwood's birthplace
Cuthbert Collingwood was born at The Side in Newcastle upon Tyne on September 29, 1748. His family lived in an imposing house overlooking the river. The residence was surrounded by densely populated, crowded streets and dark, squalid housing. His father was a merchant, and Cuthbert was one of ten children.
