Nathan's pre-show ritual before he goes on stage includes doing a load of yoga and downing two whole bottles of sparkling water which is probably why he keeps crossing his legs on that giant Moon.

Nathan is the 50th ever participant from Austria and If he gets through to the final it'll be the 5th time Austria have done so in the last decade. The only other win (apart from MEGA GODDESS CONCHITA) was Udo Jurgens (see Nathan, THAT'S what you call an Austrian name) in 1966 which went something like this:

It's been three years since the ICONIC bearded beauty Cochita Wurst won Eurovision for Austria. And guess what - Conchita took time out of her busy global schedule to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Nathan with tonight's BBC host Scott Mills:

God that looks like QUITE the party. Step aside, Mariliyn Monroe, external, I think Conchita has just officially knocked you off your 'iconic renditions of Happy Birthday' pedestal.

For those of you just joining, this is Nathan Trent who has to be the most Englishly-named Austrian ever to exist. When he's not walking around sporting a name like a Byker Grove character he likes to hang out in very, very brightly list cafés and belt out covers of previous Eurovision hits:

The first time Serbia ever entered the competition in 2007 they won the whole damn thing with a group of fierce, power-dressing Charlie's Angels lookalikes fronted by Marija Šerifović.

Unfortunately, their winning streak did not last long. In the last two editions of Eurovision, Serbia have placed last in the semi final. Can Tijana bring home the goods this year?

  6. Serbiapublished at 20:13 BST 11 May 2017

Tijana is a persistent old cookie - she started off as a Eurovision backing singer, bopping around at the back of the stage in a humiliating 1960s outfit for Nina, Serbia's entry in 2009. If you squint really, REALLY hard at the video below you can spot her gritting her teeth in a dreadful blonde wig and dreaming of solo stardom. They came 14th in the final so our gal Tijana lobbed that Hairspray wig in the bin and got stuck into a solo career.

Nina, by contrast, moved to Australia and emabarked on a PhD in immunopharmacology, external (haha so NICHE!) so happy endings all round.

  7. Serbiapublished at 20:12 BST 11 May 2017

Right, kicking off proceedings tonight is Serbia's Tijana Bogicevic with the song 'In Too Deep.'

Before you ask, NO this is NOT a cover of everyone's favourite teen anthem by Sum 41, external (unfortunately). Instead this song is the work of 'Symphonics International.' They might sound like some sort of cringe a capella group or a lame Bond villain but they're in fact a terrifyingly impressive songwriting collective who have written for the likes of Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and (paws up Little Monsters) Lady Gaga.

That's why your feet (despite your brain screaming in protest) are probably tapping along to this terrifyingly catchy dance track about a girl "who's so far into a relationship that she can't get out of it."'

Some fine cossack dancing there from Volodymyr Ostapchuk. He's being prepping those glutes for years on shows such as 'Shopping Goddess' and 'Style Icon.' Here he is warming up backstage with fellow wag Oleksandr Skichko #dogdgilyshapedheart
