    Quote Message

Due to a lack of competitors all athletes competing in the male and female lightweight class were put straight through into the final, including star performer Micky Yule.

    Quote Message

It was also a successful day for both male and female athletes from the UK heavyweight class. The women’s heavyweight heats were first up this morning and it was a straightforward heat for the UK team as Nerys Pearce, Laura Knowles and Kelly Layden Farrer all qualified for the finals comfortably. In the men’s competition Ross Austen, Nathan Cumberland, Sean Gaffney and Ian Taylor all progressed into the finals tomorrow. Sean Gaffney remains Britain’s best hope of gold in the men's heavyweight as he secured top place in the heats. Unfortunately Mark Stonelake and David Darroch did not make the top eight and will not participate in the final.

It is not just physical injuries that our Invictus competitors have also overcome. When we cheer for the man with missing limb, let's cheer for the man who was too anxious to leave his house... I hope you see the bravery of those who have confronted invisible injuries.

  9. Laura Wright: Invinciblepublished at 19:44 BST 9 May 2016

The lyrics to Laura's Invictus anthem

When all is lost and hope is gone

When life is frail and hearts are weary

    The echoed words unbeaten still

Will show our strength and dignity

To dream the dream of victory

To feel the fight that drives us all

To take a place in history

And bring home our hearts for thee

And when we hear those distant drums

And when we feel our hearts grow stronger

When we see the crowds draw near

Our fears dissolve, our heads hold high

To dream the dream of winners past

To feel the fight that drives us all

    United strong, forever faithful

We hear the cries of victory

I am proud, I am strong I have might and I have spirit

    Sacrifice and stars are born

Unconquered still, we stand as one

To dream the dream of winners past

To feel the fight that drives us all

    United strong, forever faithful

We hear the cries of victory

When we look back from where we came

We've found a place, we'll rise or die

To dream a dream of victory

We feel the fight that drives us all

    To victory
