Forty-nine-year-old artist Michael Mitchell, of Harlesden, north London, says the ban will be beneficial to all pubgoers.

“Sometimes I like to have a smoke but if there was a ban in the pub it wouldn’t be a problem, I’d go without.

“The ban is the best move because of people’s health – both smokers and non-smokers.”
