    Spence b K Bryce 2 (Surrey 58-4 v The Blaze)

Another! Jemima Spence is only new to the crease, but she has to depart cheaply.

The Surrey keeper looks to ramp Kathryn Bryce, but fails to make contact. You miss, I hit.

Bryony Smith had earlier this over pulled Bryce away for another six. She is still there not out on 28 and is now imperative to Surrey posting a competitive total.

    Surrey 50-3 v The Blaze

Bryony Smith sends the final ball of the powerplay to the deep mid-wicket boundary to bring up Surrey's 50, but they are three down.

The onus, you feel, is now on captain Smith to remain at the crease for as long as possible.

It's great those in charge are trying to allign the womens game more with the mens game. However it strikes me that holding a showpiece event like Finals Day on a friday when most schools have not broken up will not maximise the publicity or crowd. A pity...

    Theo, London

If we want to increase the following of women’s cricket, we need to start making their matches more available. Friday day instead of a weekend for finals? And T20 matches starting after lunch instead of evenings. Can’t we level these out with the men’s game?

    Andrew, Yorkshire

Unfortunately it seems the nature of the increasingly stacked calendar has led us to this point... let's just make the most of it. It's certainly been a spectacular start.

The flight of the ball did her there. A bit loopier and hence she hit the ball too early.

Another wicket goes down for Surrey and if Laura Harris had stuck around for a little bit longer, I was fearing for the crowd actually with more sixes and fours.

The Blaze will be absolutely delighted to see the back of her.

    This one sticks!

Charli Knott, brought into the attack, sees her first delivery sent to the boundary - flat and straight by Harris - but with her second ball she strikes.

Harris pushes straight into the safe hands of Georgia Elwiss at extra cover and The Blaze have another. That feels like a big wicket.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:25 BST 17 July

    Surrey 39-2 v The Blaze

A chance of a third wicket! Smith cuts and should be caught by Ballinger at backward point, the ball carried but Ballinger cannot hold onto it.

    Surrey 39-2 v The Blaze

Welcome to the game, Kirstie Gordon.

The Blaze captain brings herself on and opposing number Bryony Smith immediately pulls the first delivery of Gordon's spell away for another maximum. Dragged down and dismissed. Surrey are beginning to motor.

It's certainly an entertaining start. It's either a boundary or a wicket at the moment.

That did go right out the middle for six. It made a resounding noise.

    Surrey 33-2 v The Blaze

Laura Harris goes on the attackImage source, Getty Images

Harris did not hang around in getting off the mark - she sends Phillips back over her head with a commanding shot which flies to the long-off boundary.

Harris does not rest on her laurels, though. She powerfully pulls Phillips to the deep-wicket boundary for the first six of the morning, and then finishes the over with another authoritative four.

Sixteen runs come from the over.

Two in the over for Grace Ballinger. She's been a little expensive, she's gone for four boundaries in two overs. But you don't mind having 16 in the runs column if you've got two in the wickets column.

Really good start for Kirstie Gordon's side here.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:15 BST 17 July

    Chathli c Phillips b Ballinger 8 (Surrey 17-2 v The Blaze)

Just like that, Kira Chathli has departed, too! The Surrey keeper strikes two fours following Wyatt-Hodge's wicket and then looks to ramp Ballinger, but succeeds in only popping the ball up in the air to Charley Phillips, who is behind the keeper at short third.

The Blaze are making in-roads in the powerplay. Laura Harris comes to the crease.

Lovely bit of bowling from Ballinger. What a huge wicket that is.

Two-ball duck for Wyatt-Hodge! The opener is bowled by a yorker through the gate from Ballinger's first ball of her second over. Big wicket and breakthrough for The Blaze.

Good stuff this from Charley Phillips. Good line, good length and no width for Bryony Smith to get her hands through.

This has been a really good start by Phillips as she begins with a maiden.

Tight from Charley Phillips, whose first ball goes for a single leg bye and is followed by five dots. Good start from the opening bowler.

Don't give Bryony Smith any width. She has thrown her hands at that and that's whistled through the covers.

  18. Postpublished at 1 over

    Surrey 8-0 v The Blaze

The first over brings eight runs from the bat of Bryony Smith. The first boundary was a little fortuitous but the second was confidently driven through the covers.

A promising start made by Ballinger with the ball, although replays suggest she might have got away with over-stepping on the final ball.

  19. The first semi-final is under waypublished at 11:01 BST 17 July

    Surrey 4-0 v The Blaze

We are under way at The Oval, where Bryony Smith pushes Grace Ballinger into the covers for the first ball and then slices past keeper Sarah Bryce for four runs with the second delivery.

Tammy Beaumont, who retired from international duty having represented England one final time in their Test defeat to India at Lord's, opens the batting for The Blaze, but there is no Marie Kelly.
