What are we seeing here? Are Surrey going to even get through their overs?

Gregory lbw b Ballinger 0 (Surrey 104-9 v The Blaze)

The end appears nigh for Surrey, who are now nine down and with still more than five overs remaining of their innings.

Gregory is adjudged to have been trapped in front by Ballinger, who is awarded her third wicket, arrowing a delivery into the right hander from around the wicket.

Ball seemed to be doing plenty but replays suggest it was umpire's call. The Blaze will want this wrapped up now.

    Surrey 103-8 v The Blaze

Josie Groves has been excellent. She has 2-18 from her three overs, although 10 came in that over and that included seven wides - five of them coming from a single ball.

Grace Ballinger is back into the attack now, as The Blaze go for the jugular.

That is the end of Moore. In desperation, didn't time it, didn't get to the pitch of the ball. Trying to use her feet, was trying to be creative but instead finds a fielder at mid-off. It's a lovely looking catch.

It is another rather cheap wicket from Surrey's point of view, but it is highly deserved for Josie Groves who has bowled an excellent spell.

Kalea Moore charges Groves but can only plant the ball into the hands of Kirstie Gordon at mid-off.

Big leading edge from ADR, who is furious with herself. How on Earth did that happen? Yet another wicket.

Here is MacDonald-Gay, who has thankfully got her pads on ready to go but wouldn't have expected to be out here at this stage.

This is pretty exciting stuff. You would've expected Surrey to be favourites for this one but The Blaze are making it incredibly difficult for them.

    Davidson-Richards c & b Groves 20 (Surrey 89-7 v The Blaze)

Another huge wicket for The Blaze in the circumstances.

Josie Groves had only gone for five in the over, one of those being a wide, and she uses the spare delivery to great effect to remove the remaining set batter Davidson-Richards for 20.

She pushes a flighted ball from Groves back down the track to her, bit of a leading edge. The Blaze's assault on the Surrey batting order continues.

I've not really followed County cricket before but the recent World cup has inspired me to listen today. As there is no county called Blaze Is it women from several counties like the England A team? Or an amalgum of a couple of adjoining counties?

    Geoffrey, Southampton

Very glad to hear that, Geoffrey, you are very welcome. It's been a touch complicated down the years, Geoffrey, they used to represent the East Midlands but nowadays The Blaze are, to all intents and purposes, Notts, and play at Trent Bridge, but with players signed from across the country.

Surrey have been losing wickets rapidly.

Those big scalps gone as well. Wyatt-Hodge out for nought. Chathli out for eight. Harris for 18.

Really, The Blaze are going through them.

    Surrey 84-6 v The Blaze

Georgia Elwiss has two catches and has now bowled a very tight opening over.

Surrey can rotate the strike for now but, as far as The Blaze are concerned, that is palatable in the situation. Surrey are going at a little over 7.5 runs an over.

    Surrey 79-6 v The Blaze

We are midway through Surrey's innings. Their projected score as things stand is 158, but primarily Surrey will be focusing on ensuring they bat their overs from here having lost their entire top order.

Alice Davidson-Richards, 15 not out, is now key to their efforts.

Charli Knott has bowled beautifully. She has been on the money.

Surrey need some runs here. It looks like a cracking wicket and The Blaze have got a seriously good batting line-up.

Let's see what Surrey can put on the board.

Charli Knott has got some real turn and actually conceded five wides earlier in this over, with a ball which beat keeper Sarah Bryce.

This ball drifts, is full and cannons into the back leg of Alice Monaghan, who reviews but sees three reds and has to go for a duck.

    Dave Bracegirdle

Surrey, trying to put the foot on the accelerator pretty much from the start here, have lost a fifth wicket.

Don't hit them to Georgia Elwiss.

    Smith c Elwiss b Knott 29 (Surrey 74-5 v The Blaze)

Charli Knott celebrates wicket of Bryony SmithImage source, Shutterstock

Bryony Smith now goes! Perhaps an element of frustration in that shot.

Charli Knott is back into the attack and Alice Davidson-Richards takes a single from the first ball, but Smith skies the very next delivery, looking to go big, and Georgia Elwiss runs round at extra cover to take a catch she makes look comfortable.

Surrey in real bother now, although they do bat deep.

    Surrey 73-4 v The Blaze

    Rita Green
Ex-cricketer and commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

For a moment there, Josie Groves thought she was in business at mid-off. Just a couple of paces back and that would've been another wicket. But it's just over her for four.

I think The Blaze would've bitten your arm off for this at the nine-over stage with four wickets down.

    Surrey 73-4 v The Blaze

Alice Davidson-Richards announces herself at the crease with two successive fours from the bowling of Kirstie Gordon, both which clear mid-off.

There is a good comeback thereafter from Gordon, who almost finds the edge of Smith with the final ball of the over.

  18. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Surrey 64-4 v The Blaze

Very disciplined from Josie Groves in her first over, which costs only three runs. An economical over to complement the early wickets taken. The Blaze are on top for now, but they would sure love the wicket of Bryony Smith.

  19. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Surrey 61-4 v The Blaze

The Blaze are making good use so far of their decision to insert Surrey, having won the toss.

There was movement in the ball delivered by Kathryn Bryce to remove Jemima Spence and, with Josie Groves' first ball of the eighth over, there is clearly some turn on The Oval surface, too.

    Surrey 58-4 v The Blaze

    Dave Bracegirdle

That looked, straight away, pre-meditated from Jemima Spence.

She didn't even have a ball to have a little look at the bowler to see what she was doing.

But played all round it. Pitched up and it clattered into the bottom of the stumps.
