The word archipelago comes from the Italian 'arcipelago'. It might have first referred to the Aegean Sea, notable for its large numbers of islands.
Santa Claus comes from a Dutch name for Saint Nicholas: 'Sante Klaas'. In the UK, some people call Santa Claus 'Father Christmas'.
